When I look at this tower I can't believe some people keep saying skyscrapers are ugly per se. What a pity being so blind to pure beauty.

Once this is complete, imagine someone kicking a football and it goes above the crown and goes inside it

Then do incremental infill development like New York or Hong Kong. Those places are even more expensive than Shanghai yet buildings still get built. China needs to learn that redevelopment and neighborhood improvement doesn't have to be leveling the place in one felled swoop. The area around Zhangyang Road and Pudong South Road is a good example of what that low rise residential area should look like.

In my experience the Chinese don't go off half cocked. The nuanced approach doesn't really suit them. The softly softly incremental thing doesn't ring too many bells here. They have a sense of the grandiose, of grandeur if you like even outside the main centers redevelopment plans center of large, impressive buildings or large scale developments. It's a cultural thing and perception is all.

That's what I was thinking; kicking a ball from the top of the Shanghai tower through the hole in the SWFC.

And post number...

Which has 2 "4"s in it. 4 in Chinese sounds similiar to the Chinese for "death"
