Really? I knew that the BK deck wasn't the tallest, but SWFC was the lucky building that surpassed it? That's sad. BK has the third highest observation deck in the world. One would think that the tallest building in the world and the tallest freestanding structure in the world would have the tallest observation deck, though. And about the diagram posted by orange boy : I'd love to spend a night in one of the Shanghai Tower hotels.

Shanghai Tower dominates! SWFC? Dwarfed! Jin Mao? Even more dwarfed! The rest in Lujiazui? Lost in the skyline...

I feel a little sorry for SWFC and Jin Mao. It's not really a trio of buildings, it's one building replacing the other two to compete with the world. I don't think this building will ever be forgotten, primarily because of its outstanding design. Shanghai is putting all of its glory on this one tower.

Yeah, if you're not just counting buildings, technically the Canton tower in Guangzhou has the highest observation deck in the world. Of course the Shanghai tower will surpass this when completed.

The ST will have the highest hotel rooms, higher than the Ritz-Carlton in ICC.

So the observation deck in ST will in fact be the highest of its kind in the world? I can't wait for it to finish then.

Feels weird when you think that those little-looking beings built all those monsters in the background.

At what height is the swimming pool? SWFC has one on 87th floor at 366m.

It's hard not to keep mentioning issues of height when talking about one of the world's tallest buildings. But really, this thread is starting to sound like the ONLY asset that the Shanghai tower has to offer is its height. What about the beauty of its design? The elegant way it flows and twists? The way it has a distinctly Asian quality? It's not only size that matters.

I use only this diagram by MORI in my calculations , updates on gaoloumi and this video:, 1 and 2 part, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJ521NTz4lk
There is some gaps in my calculations, but definitely ST is not 600 m. yet.
I am user in this forum from long time, more than 10-11 years and ST is one of my fav buildings and its development is very interesting for me.
