Hello everyone,

Im new here and a master student of architecture. Ive been following this topic for 1-2 months since I am making a 3d model of structural system of Shanghai Tower (for one of my courses). Im gonna make a detailed presentation about the structural system. Your discussions helped me a lot, thank you everyone!
Though I tried to check almost all of the sources I could found and the pages here, maybe I missed some, I dont know. I have a question if you dont mind: Could you advise me any other reliable reference for my study? Ive reached the publications of CTBUH and Gensler and a few more. However I could not find any source from architecture or engineering firms having plans in enough resolution. The best plans are shared here. So do you know any other source?

On a serious note, according to Orange Boy, we're not quite a Megatall yet, between 4-8 meters, or roughly 12 to 14 feet.

I believe that this is already a megatall by superimposing my Shanghai tower diagram to a very recent update made by _Forum_ from Jan 2.

I no longer believe the 2 part animation video on YouTube is accurate in anyway as to much height has been passed since the 3 more floors that were supposed to be formed in the steel shell that is present and the already constructed concrete floors do not correspond to those in the video.

In the superimposed image I created I aligned the truss belt/mech floors to those of my diagram and they lined up perfectly along with the floors in between. And if my diagram is indeed correct then this is somewhere at 604m.
I also believe that the abstract steel work above the last mech floor is not part of the crown and is that of the 3 observation levels. Though I could be wrong. But it does indeed seem strange that the highest/newest steel added to the top passes that of the inside of the crown, a possible indication that the steel is for the helipad that was in some renders.

Excellent analysis. It does look like it is over 600m now as you show.

I have one possible disagreement that I was just thinking of about that new steel at the top. While it looks like it is in the centre of the crown, it may in fact be around the diameter, but without the third dimension that a pic from the top would show, we can't be sure.

And about the diagram posted by orange boy : I'd love to spend a night in one of the Shanghai Tower hotels.
The highest, as far as I know, is on the Canton tower, it's 488 m high.

It's now a megatall

There isn't a language option, but you can use Google Translator (Chrome or Firefox plug-in) to translate the site.

Yeah, there is no room for additional concrete core wall within the steel structure on top of the concrete core any more. And they already held the much hyped core top out seremony. That YouTube animation is not accurate.

If your calculations are correct, ST will be taller than 632 m. Rumors for height, around 650 m.

Let's wait for this platform. Above it is finale part of the crown.
The height here is 596 m., but definitely it will be more.

The building will be 632m | 2073ft. That is the plan for the design, so it's going to happen.

I'm sure they height won't be changed, doesn't make any sense to me to increase it to 650m.
