I think they mean that then it would be even taller than the Ping An FC. But since Ping An could also grow a bit to get the title back there's really no point. Just finish the building and have it look good the way it was planned.

Would be funny if it was increased.

Tokyo Tower did the same.

Increased their height to 634m to beat the Shanghai Tower.

Now ST can give them a dose of their own medicine.

This business about changing the height at this late stage of construction is just ridiculous. Every single detail of a major skyscraper has been planned long in advance of even beginning the construction and all of the components that are required have been manufactured in time for their installation. It's foolish to even talk about so could we please drop it?
I do have a serious question though. As we know there are two layers of cladding on this building but I'm wondering if that will stop at the beginning of the crown or will the crown itself also have an inner cladding of some sort. Thanks.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. The antenna on the Sears/Willis tower is not considered part of the height of the building. The thing about Shanghai Tower is that the crown is one of the most distinctive design elements about the building and the thought of erecting a little stick on the top of it to gain a bit more height seems foolish at best and would detract from the beautiful design that's already being constructed.

I agree. Stop trolling about with rumours about the height.

They could put a giant metal pole on the top like the WTC and double its height.

It's not a "pole", it's a spire. It also doubles as an antenna.

Both the Empire State Building and Chrystler building are not the height they were originally announced to the public as. Nor aren't hey the same height as people thought they would be mid-way through being constructed.

I don't know anything about any rumors or the certainty of the design. But it isn't unusual for the public to not know everything.
