Luv this shot, from this angle, Shanghai looks like a much more natural city, there are allyways and street shops etc, not countless xiaoqu(commie blocks residential compound. Unfortunately, I think this kind of area will be demolish soon before people can renovate and preserve it in a better fashion, becuz in the govt's eye they are village with in the city(chenzhongcun).

Would this freezing weather speed down the construction?

According to this official CTBUH document, the design of the crown's structural part has been changed respect to the original project:

http://ctbuh.org/LinkClick.aspx?file...anguage=en-GB/

Effectively, I noticed some difference between the former renderings of the crown's structure and the way the top is coming up .... and this's the proof that those old renderings are not suitable anymore.

It makes safety an issue, but water and ice positively affect concrete curing speeds once it is poured. Concrete doesn't dry, it crystallises. This is why it can be poured underwater.

Thanks for the finding
The new design matches with the ongoing crown construction.

And that is a poity. Sure, Shanghai blocks are better than almost anywhere, but this low-rise communities are a history. Much better would it be if they repaired them so that these houses look clean and attractive.

I agree. You'll never get the atmosphere and charm of thes communities back with new housing blocks.

indeed. it's all about China dignity. SH getting better and better every years. couple times i visit SH i don't see this massive landscape. in other cities, in my visit to Guangzhou, huge areas of houses that not repaired yet, hiding behind high green trees along toll road from Baiyun Airport to the city. China will transformed all comunities. I believe. back to the topic
