The solution with the cladding is GENIUS!
Why is it already topped out? The crown is not built.

it is not topped out, only the core is topped out, that is why our title says U/C and not yet T/O

The documentary is a bit over dramatic at the beginning. Shanghai isn't at some breaking point. Its actually pretty spacious. Another thing is that the public transportation, while crowded is pretty good here. Macau and Hong Kong are way more crowded. There is plenty of room to grow here. I believe that many developments here in Shanghai waste a ton of space.

I think these beliefs create bad urban planning practices, like more greenspace. I agree with the guy saying "postage stamp" greenspace. But the Shanghai Tower isn't going to solve any of that. Most of the greenspace is Shanghai is useless. All you can do is walk around.

The documentary was very good with the interviews and the footage inside the tower, assembling the curtain wall and preparing (and re-welding) the crane brackets for crane jumps. I thought the race-against-time theme was over-dramatized though. There was no way the curtain wall would be finished to the top at the beginning of typhoon season last summer. They also didn't mention at all the heat wave Shanghai had for a couple of weeks in July.

Strandkaiterminalen is part of the Oslo harbour. It means "the terminal at Strandkaia". What the heck does that title have to do with this tower?

You are right to the point, Shanghai is spacious, but the govt only intend to grow the central core of Shanghai whereas the south and south east of Shanghai are still scattered with villages. And all the green space are laughing jokes imo, most of them are next to the roads or some busy motorways, which firstly is hard to access, second, they are small in size not fit for people to lay down. I think the govt should just demolition all these green space and create some big parks around city.
