I think it was emphasized as being the last piece of steel in the main part of the structure, not a "topping out."

I agree with your assessment, especially the "race against time" crap. I was so disappointed they didn't show the pistons pushing the cranes upward during the jump. This has always puzzled me - and it was a lost opportunity to see it action.

I also thought it curious that they never mentioned Marshall Strabala once !! Hmmm may be related to this ... http://archinect.com/forum/thread/94...-for-a-project

It looks freaking cool indeed, it's a shame it has to be that polluted to look like that.

Looking at the recent pictures, I can imagine a conversation on the streets of Pudong: "Jin Mao tower? Which one is that? Aaaaah, you man the SMALL ONE!" It's really crazy how a 421-metre structure can look this way...

How do you get the information the photo is taken on 24-02-14? It has been raining for three days in a row now and I cannot see the new crane, so I guess the photo must be more than one week old.

Probably because Flickr says it's taken on 24-02-14...sometimes it's just the upload date...

^ Yea, but a little research will do: This photo on the same Flickr account, which is obviously taken on taken on the same day as the above picture is uploaded on February 18th.

Those wonderful pictures deserve to be shared here, but please don't provide us with wrong information.

I remember that too. In fact someone recorded jumping process but not on that but at ping an tower if memory serves right. Dbronx I think you can find it as a gif file if you haven't seen it yet, although that was quite some time ago.
