It looks like the dismantling of the last of the two main cranes (bolted to the side of the core) by the smaller one they put up about 2 months ago to complete the crown.

The Western world had its own problems with smog and pollution until the mid-20th century. Once environmental regulations were put in place that reduced or cleaned emissions from factories and cars the problems largely went away. China is starting to do what it can and hopefully in the next few decades the situation improves. Only in clear air can Shanghai's skyline really captivate.

I agree that industrialization has contributed to the air pollution problems. I might add that China as a policy has prioritized GDP growth over health of citizens. Only now, when the problems seem at a breaking point have they taken steps to hopefully reduce pollution. I can't imagine how frustrating it could be for residents to observe what the government could accomplish during the 2008 Beijing Olympics in terms of air quality. While some of those solutions were unsustainable long-term and all were costly, they really put a dent in their air pollution when they tried.

I don't know how those guys can go out on that crane arm like that. That is just awesome. For me to do that, I'd have to have cajones so big they'd be visible from space.

Those guys are wearing fall protection and are tethered. They are big ol' sissies
Did you not see the video of the Russian guys in their famous climb? I like to think they have waaay bigger cajones. I'm terrified of heights, but if I knew that I wouldn't die if I fell, I could at least make it to the crane cab
