your post is kinda hard to comprehend...maybe you tried to fill in too much information and the result is some confusion for the reader...

From Shanghai Steel (the company in charge of the crown's steel structure): The world's largest shock absorber (?) was just installed on Shanghai Tower. Located 579m above ground level, it has a height of 27m (spanning from 125F to 131F), and a weighs 1000T.

This is simply awesome. I wonder how strong earthquakes it can resist without siginficant damage to the structure..

..
This probably also caused the seemingly slow progress of last months.
Now it is installed, the remaining part of the crown can be built.

I think the building will be taller than 632m.

The original design had the mechanical stopping at 579m. Adding 27m places this core above the rim of the original crown design allowing it to be visible.

I would estimate a final height of 660+.

This angle is going to be good once the buildings to the very far right in the photo finishes.

Also note new structures are being installed on ST.

I was like, "What's a shock absorber?" But i never knew this building had a mass damper. I don't think they mentioned it in the documentary. It makes sense, considering no swaying is acceptable in the tower, according to the architect's concept. But I wonder if that's even possible.

You as a native English speaker should not laugh at other people not speaking the language perfectly- Unless you do it in a language that's not your own.....

I wasn't laughing at them. And I'm not a native English speaker. "Shock absorber" is not compromised English, it's just an unfamiliar term that made me feel stupid once I found out what it really was. I apologize for any misunderstanding.

I love this tower, my favourite design. This building is currently my 2nd favourite supertall. I sort of agree with Inno. The cladding looks dirty/opaque. Maybe protective layering?

I guess you mean standing on the Tallest Man Made Height. But standing on BK would give you that reccord.
