1/2? you must be joking, last time I check the whole shanghai office vacant rate is 3% or so, that's why so many new buildings under construction in shanghai recent years. In fact I think it's really wise to start shanghai tower right now, thanks for financial crisis almost all raw material price are very low now.

what ceremony ?? I'm sorry maybe I cant see that information in the topic... but... to be honest that hole wasnt too deep as for the 632 meter building

I guess the ring is also meant to show the diameter of this tower during the ceremony.
Otherwise, they could just have used concrete slabs to walk on.
