I agree with your ideas

I just have one proposal for us Slovenes... Please use SI abbrev. for Slovenia which is the official one (like SVN)... SLO is only used on our licence plates (though I don't know even why) and at sport events.

Do you agree?

Ljubljana City what ever you want to use is fine by me, SLO or SI, its all the same to me, whatever you prefer I'll adopt.

BTW I like SinCity's suggested methodology for naming threads, brings some order and coherence to this new subforum.

Nice one SC, I agree with the idea,

I think we should go

Photo Thread
- your own photos and comments.
Infrastructure Thread, - Airports, Roads, Railways, metros and general infrastructure issues
CityScape projects and Development - individual projects - say Eurotower, or Bosmal, and cities development threads say Zadar, Maribor or Tuzla
Konoba or Adriatica Café (or some other name from major movies like Star Wars, Casablanca or Star Trek's "Ten Forward" perhaps)

I am pretty sure Jan will move all our threads from European sections to this one if we ask him nicely, make it easier for all.

nice one SC

Just for future reference, here are ISO-standard two and three-letter codes for the countries should we decide to use them:

Slovenia - SI, SVN
Croatia - HR, HRV
Bosnia - BA, BIH

I like the format proposed, I only think we should have a subforum dedicated to photos and thus drop the "PHOTOS" in thread names of photo threads. And I like the use of capitals for city/country names to make distinction easier.

We're not an institution, which would have to respect some ISO-standards, which are often made just because they are necessary, just look at CDN for Canada, I'd understand CND, but not CDN, and I found out it's some Indian expression, which noone else but these Indians understand. Or EAT for Tanzania for example; unless you know it's Tanzania or that it stands for 'East Africa - Tanzania' (I guess), it tells you nothing. And I think the SI abbreviation for Slovenia is the dumbest one of all (similar to SE for Sweden). So I suggest we either use SVN or SLO, the latter is used more often (and noone will mistake it for Slovakia, simply because (s)he'll know there's no Slovakia in the Adriatic group). For Croatia I suggest CRO, because the language of SSC is English, and HR(V) doesn't tell you much in English. For Bosnia and Herzegovina I suggest B&H, because that 'I' in BIH isn't English, and BA(H) isn't that popular. 2 cents from me.

Verso, geez, chill, it was just a suggestion. And btw, Canada uses CA and CAD. There is no ISO code named CDN.

And I agree with you that people may not know what HR(V) means, but seriously, people not knowing that BIH stands for Bosnia and Herzegovina don't have any reason to be in this forum. That is, if they don't know that BIH stands for Bosnia and Herzegovina, there's not much chance they'll know B&H does.

And I really see no good reason in pointing out a couple of (illogical) ISO codes for some African countries to prove your point, because we are not going to use those and thus are completely irrelevant in this discussion.

Congratulations for your new section...but......

didn't you forget one more new country?

Montenegro, how about Montenegro being added to the list of your countries.

Anyways congratulations from neighboring Greece and hope to see many pics and constructions announcements in your forum.

^ My thoughts on Canada and Tanzania I rather leave behind but may I ask you frankly, what's so terribly wrong with B&H?

(btw, SI is very misleading, just ask 'djurob' )

im sorry, ive got to point this out

i think its unfortunate how every single slovenian car says "SLO" on it....

it's mind boggling that cars have to say that... anyone whos mildly proficient in english has to laugh at that... hahaha

i still love u slovenes but ur abbreviation is somewhat unfortunate

živili

anyways, heres my recommendation

we should use 3 letters:

Slovenia=SLO or SVN, i like SLO more, everyone can guess SLO is slovenia

Croatia=CRO

Bosnia and Herzegovina= BiH, or B&H, i guess if u want to be international, use "&", but "i" is just fine too. i'm used to BiH.

after that change is made we need to rename this title of this thread.
