16th February

I saw this yesterday from the Esplanade seating gallery. Not sure what it is but I suppose it's part of the gardens.

Saw it from the very same location. Yes, they seem to be positioned right about where a cluster of super-trees are supposed to be according to the map. The pillars also seem to match the height of the same.

I would think they need to be pretty sturdy as I have seen hints of "canopy walks" in between them in renderings.

The rendering can illustrate the photo. Note the canopy walks:

Now that I've seen Avatar, I do think those giant-tree renderings reminds me of Pandora...

So we should ask for some flying rocks to complement the giant trees now? ^ ^

Response from Gardens by the Bay National Parks Board..

FYI...

Phase 1 of the Gardens includes most of the Gardens at Marina Bay South (Bay South) and will be completed in end 2011. Interim development of the Gardens at Marina East (Bay East) is currently in progress to support the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), with the full implementation taking place at a later stage. After the YOG, Bay East will undergo reinstatement works and its opening will be announced in due time. Currently, there is no timeframe set for the development of Phase 2 of the Gardens.

Development as slow as the Singapore Sports Hub .

Just look at the pics up there, it's infinitely faster than the Sports Hub (well, that's not difficult since the Sports Hub project velocity is zero ^ ^ )
