Djibouti...yeah...
Nice city, very "European" in areas while traditional in others, reminds me of Somalia (it helps that Djibouti is majority Somalia, LOL)...but it is too damn hot... |

I don´t like Djibouti, it looks so decrepit and dirty (it is not a city of millions!!), All the people seem to sit around and walk around (aimlessly), how about repainting/renovating all those old buildings , this could generate more employment and would increase significantly the attractiveness of the whole place!
However, The Kempinsky Hotel is gorgeous, it is newly built by an Emirati investor.

Djibouti looks nice, my Canadian Yemeni friend was born there. Djibouti is still unknown to many Asians, I hope more efforts to attract tourists to there

Very impressive.
It looks like hell (meaning to the facade of the buildings and the destroyed streets), but is still a really cool city. I love the architecture and well... the city in general. I see a good future preserving that beautiful buildings. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/183/4...1c530897_b.jpg I don't wanna do anything wrong with that cops =P. |

Some landscapes are nice! I don't know why but city seems like a mix of colonial portuguese and spanish (but they never had influence of them, no?), and muslim archicteture.. Anyway the city needs some care. It's very decadent...
Great pics. Nice to see Djibouti here.

My DJIBOUTI!
Bonjour everyone, most of the pictures in this thread are from the GUUD (colonial area of the city). Lots of these buildings are more than 100 years old. It is so sad that no one is taking care of them. This really constitutes our heritage but the gouvernment ignores restoring, repainting and protecting the Guud. There has been recently an association that tries to collect funds to restore the area, they organized a sensibilisation campaign where every building's history was told. I have to mention that what they receive are private donations and that the gouvernment doesn't do much to restore this area. Again, so sad...
Our capital is in very bad shape. But with the economic boom of DJIBOUTI, and the new policy to attract more tourist, I hope they're gonna think of preserving the city's heritage. |

A beautiful city indeed but it seems like African curse also made its round in such a lovely city. This city should be treated as a jewel and be well taken care of but again what can we expect?

Djibouti has some amazing historical architecture. If the building facades and balconies etc were carefully renovated and restored to their original glory, it would look even more amazing.
