Natural Towers in Kondovan

I vaguely remember watching something like Neverhood, but that's pretty close.. it's sort of like a mini, humble Petra. They've got some of these mountain houses in Yemen as well.

Yes and the 30 meters high rocky facade at Petra is a mini and modern type of our 70 meters high ones in Naqsh-e-Rostam, isn't it?

Today's header image: The second largest square in the world

Many thanks to Admins!

Tiananmen Square in China

As you know the largest Square in the world is Tiananmen Square in Peking but the second one and I can say that the most beautiful one is Maidan-e-Shah or Royal Square with nearly 1700 feet long – twice the size of Red Square in Moscow, seven times the size of St Mark’s Square in Venice - in Isfahan. It is completely surrounded by decorated arcades and a bazaar, and the center of each side is marked by a monumental building: the entrance to the Grand Bazaar and the Royal Mosque (Imam Mosque) at opposite ends, and the Ali Qapu (or Aliqapoo) Pavilion and the Shaikh Lotfullah Mosque on either side. The Royal Square is connected at its northern end to the old city by the monumental entrance of the grand bazaar opening onto miles of vaulted passageways and caravanserais that eventually lead to Friday Mosque (Ja’ame Mosque).

Congratulation everyone for the header image.

I never got a chance to comment on Iranian mosque. Architecturally speaking, Iran has probably the most beautiful mosques in the world. Increadible calligraphy & detail.

I like the madrasas and mosaics!
I wish we had some like those in arab towns in Israel instead of modern schools of blocks of concrete..
very impressive!
