Needs more different materials for sure. The Gazprom in St.Pet is more exciting than all of those towers. Just hope for constructionstart soon!

I said one of the nicest. How could you possible disagree with that?

I just hope that Russia Tower would finally be built.. that would make this cluster beyond epic.

Once it comes to that there is an inevitable question One of how many? Three, five, ten, twenty, hundred? Perhaps yes if we're talking about 100 but certainly not if we're talking about 5 or even 10.

One of the nicest in the world..? What others are better? Sure, you have New York, Hong Kong, Chicago, Shanghai.. but I'd say Moscow ranks among the top 10 (or at least it will in the near future). I think it already beats London and Frankfurt. If Russia Tower is built there will be no question.

Its a nice cluster of awesome skyscrapers there, no doubt about that. Why always say "the best (nicest etc.)" or "one of the best" which always lead to childish discussions when we can just leave it and agree that Moscow IBC is becoming a really awesome cluster of skyscrapers?

I think the cluster lacks diversity in height. It now come across as more of a wall than anything else. It would be better if it gradually built itself up in a pyramid shape. Similar to LAs skyline from some angles.

I would take Moscow's clean and modern look over LA any day. The one in LA looks too messy and has too many abysmal buildings, imo (the mountain backdrop is indesputably epic, though). However, the Russia Tower would create somewhat of a "pyramid shape" if it was to be built.. I don't think there is too much hope for it, though.

After years of rumors and a lack of a final design they finally announce big news!

Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture Designs Kingdom Tower, to Be the World Tallest Building
smithgill.com WorldArchitectureNews

At over 1,000 meters and a total construction area of 530,000 square meters (5.7 million square feet), Kingdom Tower will be the centerpiece and
first construction phase of the Kingdom City development on a 5.3 million-square-meter site in north Jeddah. The tower's height will be at least
173 meters (568 feet) taller than the world's current tallest building, Dubai's 828-meter-tall Burj Khalifa, which was designed by Adrian Smith while
at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Kingdom Tower will feature a Four Seasons hotel, Four Seasons serviced apartments, Class A office space, luxury
condominiums and the world's highest observatory.

Design development of the tower is under way, with construction to begin imminently. Foundation drawings are complete and the piling for the
tower is currently being tendered. Kingdom Tower will cost approximately $1.2 billion to construct, while the cost of the entire Kingdom City
project is anticipated to be $20 billion.

AS+GG is leading an interdisciplinary design team that also includes building services engineering consultants Environmental Systems Design, Inc.
(ESD) and structural engineering consultants Thornton Tomasetti. The developer of Kingdom City, Jeddah Economic Company (JEC), selected the
scheme after a lengthy competition process in which SOM, Pickard Chilton, Kohn Pedersen Fox, Pelli Clarke Pelli and Foster + Partners also
participated. Read more on smithgill.com.

The price is just 6.5 billion NOK, about the same as the Opera House...

What's up with the Arabs willing to build the tallest? As if they had some inferiority complexes which need to be hidden.
I really fail to see any passion and sexiness in such projects. It's like they're late by 80 years (I mean 1930's USA with its "wanna be the tallest" skyscraper frenzy). The architectural side of this tower (same applies to Burj Khalifa, btw) is not what I would call the most sophisticated or exciting.

I tend to agree, the architecture is bland. Even more so then Burj Khalifa.

got my support on your opinions, but i would not really compare them to 1930's America.

Busan Opera House Proposal by Peter Ruge Architekten
http://www.archdaily.com/161062/busa...e-architekten/

Peter Ruge Architekten shared with us their entry for an international competition to design a new opera and theatre house in Busan, Korea. The
city of Busan has a specific geography consisting of mountain areas that connect directly to the Pacific Ocean, great nature, a high population
density, and an urgent demand for public spaces to be used by the inhabitants. By taking advantage of these characteristics, they were able to
develop the concept for their design. more>>
