Nemajú rýchlostné cesty a diaľnice trochu iné parametre? To stačí len zmeniť značenie? Alebo boli už budované v parametroch diaľnic a boli len označené ako rýchlostné csty?

Some have, some don't.

R1 (Prague orbital expressway), R35 (Olomouc bypass and adjacent eastern section), R52 and R56 have been built in the same standard as motorways.

However most other expressways are 2m narrower.

But the point is that it's still enough to be considered a motorway in most other european countries. The aforementioned narrower standard of most czech expressways is for instance still superior to the planned standard of the slovak D3 motorway.

And while both motorways and expressways are tolled, have the same speed limit and similar if not the same construction standard, it's more than logical to thing about merging the two and to draw a bit more simple and straightforward system of the road classification.

---

To get a clearer picture of the thing, here's an excerpt from the current czech highway codes:

Motorway:
Traffic lanes: 3,75 m
Emergency lanes (outer hard shoulders): 3,25 m
Inner hard shoulders: 0,75 m
Central reserve (the green median): 3,5 m
Max gradient: 4,5 %
Speed limit: 130 km/h

Expressway (if not as above^, so at least):
Traffic lanes: 3,75 m
Emergency lanes (outer hard shoulders): 2,75 m
Inner hard shoulders: 0,50 m
Central reserve (the green median): 3,0 m
Max gradient: 5,0 %
Speed limit: 130 km/h

Older standards allowed narrower emergency lanes (2,75/2,25 m on motorways/expressways respectively). A few expressways also have slightly narrower traffic lanes (3,5 m).

So they are motorways only they are named expressways. Now will the name fit.
BTW, are there any international highway standards or something like that?

D3 is specific case. I still don't know why it's not expressway. For example R1 in much easier terrain is expressway and D3 which is almost completely in mountains and in narrow valey of river Kysuca is motorway. Also e.g. planned expressway R7 in absoulutely flat Danube lowlands could be motorway the same problem is with the planned bypass of Košice and south part of R4.

That's only if they choose the more conservative version that has been posted by kokpit.

But there is also a more generous proposal to promote almost all czech expressways to motorways (and consequently to promote some of expressway-like dual carriageways to expressways). The reasoning being like I wrote in my previous post: way too marginal difference.
