Not chewing gum, it will be Lichen, which is actually a sign of clean streets as Lichen prefers clean surfaces and air. Looks very similar to chewing gum though and most people probably think that is what it is.

Know about for a while on here.

Quote:
Purity Takes Over Bar Dirty-Eight

New operator for the monster Peter Street bar

PURITY comes to Peter Street. An unlikely liaison in the light of its past bar scene, but the newcomer’s imminent arrival is just one more sign of this deadzone reinventing itself.

The folk who brought you the Pure are opening Purity in the old Bar 38 building at the end of April. The target is 'discerning drinkers' against a suitably elegant backdrop. They are installing a baby white grand and importing club pianists from London to provide a jazz soundtrack. Downstairs there’ll be a separate dedicated club space called Funktion One.

The food offering is hearty all-day comfort food – with a twist (there’s always a twist). Daytime there’s a range of sweet and savoury waffles, while in the evening punters get to cook Argentine steaks to their taste on white hotplates of volcanic rock at table. Oh and there’ll be a distinctive cocktail range. They hope to make most of the light-filled mezzanine balcony level and the extensive outdoor terrace on Great Northern Square.

The same weekend Brewdog Bar launches in the old Electric Boogaloo premises.Originally the maverick Scottish craft brewers planned to open up in the Northern Quarter but switched to Peter Street, where.

The Nextmen launch Black Dog Ballroom – 10 May, 2012

As you have probably heard, we’ll soon be opening the doors at the new Black Dog Ballroom on New Wakefield Street and we all know what that means, don’t we?! Correct…..one hell of a launch party!

You know how we roll here at the Dog; we really don’t like to mess about. That’s why we gave The Nextmen a call and asked them to play. They said yes. Everybody’s happy.

The eclectic DJ and production duo will be hitting the Underdog’s decks and blasting out a seamless blend of dancehall, drum ‘n’ bass, dubstep, reggae, roots, instrumental and actual hip-hop, soul and soulful low-end boomp, funk & (UK) funky, indie, leftfield, ambient, pop and straight-up party jacking pleasers.

Having worked with artists such as Public Enemy, The Pharcyde, Blackalicious and Morcheeba the London based beat-makers know exactly how to smash a party to smithereens. They will be joined on the bill by our NQ resident, Stuart Richards, and if you are a regular Black Dogger then you will know he will not be afraid to put our brand new Funktion 1 sound system to the test with his unique and varied selection of party beats littered with bass heavy bangers.

We can personally guarantee that those of you who are lucky enough to attend will want us to open a new venue every week.

If you want to be one of the lucky ones comment below blog telling us why you should win tickets to this the launch party to end all launch parties. Ten of you will receive your own VIP invite for two.
http://www.blackdogballroom.co.uk/20...m-10-may-2012/

Also a few renders of the new Blackdog Ballroom I have not seen before.

With work coming to an end for the new Blackdog Ballroom on New Wakefield Street, maybe work will start soon on Dog Bowl on Whitworth Street West?

"They are installing a baby white grand and importing club pianists from London to provide a jazz soundtrack"

Chas and Fucking Dave? Were all the talented musicians in Manchester too busy to bother with this shithole? Just a thought but perhaps the PR dickwad who came up with this vomitathon of a press release should now fuck off and go back to London?

Looks like trying to find a restaurant for the extension at Manchester Central failed, the space is now to be turned into meeting rooms.

Quote:
Manchester Central

Manchester Central, Windmill Street, Manchester, M2 3GX

Application Type: Premises Licence Minor Variation

Proposed licensable activities to be carried on at the premises:

An application to vary the licence was submitted in 2009, at the time it had been proposed that a restaurant be located on the ground floor of the main building. This restaurant has not been built and instead that part of the premises now houses meeting rooms.

This application seeks to alter the layout of the premises to remove reference to the restaurant by way of an updated plan.

There are to be no other changes to the licence.

Finally the license application has gone online for Revolucion de Cuba.

Quote:
Revolucion de Cuba (formerly Squares)

Revolucion de Cuba, South Central, 11 Peter Street, Manchester, M2 5QR

Application Type: Premises Licence Variation

The application seeks to vary the licence as follows -

To alter the internal layout of the premises in accordance with the plans deposited with the application.

To remove condition 13 of Annex 2:
"A designated no smoking area shall be provided within the premises".

There are to be no other changes save for the addition of a more comprehensive condition regarding CCTV.

Now it just leaves the former Chicago Rock Cafe unit to be filled and the Peter Street revival is complete. Hopefully these openings will help to let the former Relish unit quickly too.

Wonder if this trademark app from Living Ventures for 'Manchester House' hints at something in Avenue North/Tower 12/Manchester House.

Good find there nq. I had a feeling that Spinningfields, might lure Living Ventures into opening at The Avenue North, if they are to open there I imagine it would be the unit that spreads over two floors, Unit G43, which is now under offer along with Unit G36-39.

Looks like Southern Eleven's outlet in the Arndale Food Court has shut down. Was shut at lunch today and it is no longer referenced on the Arndale website. Shame, it wasn't brilliant but was cheap.
