Central Station, Antwerp, nicknamed 'The Railway Cathedral':

The red hall has a height of 43m, the top of the dome 75m.

http://img277.echo.cx/my.php?image=csluchtfoto7lk.png

At this moment, the Central Station is expanding. The station is an ending station now (trains have to return to drive to another destination), but a 2,5km tunnel under the city has been drilled, so that High Speed Trains can stop in Antwerp too. Therefore, the quays have been made longer, to 475m now.
Some impressions of the future of Antwerp Central Station:

A second station building, at the other end of the quays.

Hi Get13,

you mention underground platforms ar Argyle St stn.

I was in Glasgow a few weeks ago and was surprised just many stations you have below ground - not just at Argyle street but also at Central and Queen street stns. Were these lines closed at some stage (under Dr Beeching, perhaps?) and then re-opened again (possibly in the in the 1980's?)
