From the modern ones I like the new mainstation of Berlin a lot. It upholds the concept of the old stations in a modern language. (Furthermore its size impresses).

For some reason I also love the design Samara, it looks so sci fi like I like that.

Grand Central looks tiny compared to the skyscrapers around it.

The new berlin station is great.

No mention of a personal favorite, DC Union Station. Simply gorgeous, even if it is more of a glorified mall with a train station attached these days...

Most of the station is on ground level and underground

Berlin Hbf is my favourite, but I think my local main station (Haarlem, Netherlands) is just a beauty as well.

Zurich HB. One of the most busiest train stations in the world but still quite compact and with beautiful old parts.

The thing with this thread is that not all cities have a "main" station, and not all countries have a practice of designating a city's station as its most important. It's really only Germany where they actually designate their most important hubs as "main stations." Maybe we should view it as "favorite major station."

I love all 19th Century stations. It is truly one of the great virtues of France's insistence on using existing infrastructure for their TGVs that these fantastic old buildings are still vital parts of our cities. If Maglev or something else had been implemented instead, places like the Gare du Nord and St Pancras would be on the road to being turned into museums.
