240.5m!, don't forget the 0.5, that's what puts it ahead of 240.14m Empire Square (by 34 centimetres
)

Yeah both are exactly 250mAHD. Suffice to say the new masterplan obviously isn't in place yet since this and Empire Square and Emerald for that matter were all squished into 250m, thank the Lord for Vision.
We'll get confirmation on the height of 480 Queen Street no doubt once the pdf's are out but here are Gerbilus' throughts: 70 stories in total approx 35 stories commerical/parking the rest residential. The top of building 250m AHD The facade was reminiscent of Empire although it was clearely a larger building with larger footprint and presence. It was a similar colour as well It was an attractive building, which certianly had a real presence, at a guess it has similar floorplate size to vision. The render is really good, I actually prefer the look of this building to Vision.

I say we feather and tar him!:P
It's annoying though, at some stage for whatever reason this thing was cut down 60m, 240.5m is great, but when you knew it was going to be taller... the pain, oh the pain!

Any chance this could be an Ernst & Young tower? I guess it is doubtful with one in Sydney, though I reckon just the sign there would help Brisbane gain an "international" feel.

Yep, well I know what you mean, I'm pretty annoyed as well, obviously having to be impact assessed and getting CASA clearance puts some developers off who would otherwise have gone much taller. Did you know Emerald originally wanted to go wayyyy taller for instance.
480 Queen, Empire Square and Emerald were all designed to be taller but were slotted into 250m. So that is the main issue, it's a bit of hassle to break through that cos of stupid impact assessment and CASA. The new city plan changes will get rid of impact assessment, that is a big hurdle removed, and provided Vision goes ahead at full height of 290m, CASA also be diminished as a potential issue. Then I think you will see more tallies. So my prediction is 300m towers will be easier to come by as of next year. Still, I'm pretty annoyed all the same. Will say this much, ain't no underground parking likely on the Eagle Street Pier site at least!

APH could just be doing an Austcorp...Get an approval for 250m AHD and then submit taller DA's!

From memory it took a week for Empire to be uploaded to net after it was lodged for DA.
So no use hanging by the computer, it could be days yet. So go outside get some sun, kick a footy, eat an orange, take up a musical instrument etc...

In general the standard practice is to have a DA scanned for upload to website within 72 (business) hours after submission.
Given that it was submitted on Friday we would expect it by Wednesday. (actually when I saw the application (lunchtime on Monday) they said hopefully Tuesday). However it is a very big application and things are busy so who knows....

I noticed i went to the counter and asked to see it, they tried to direct me to the computers, but i informed them I was after a DA not yet on there, and the bastard then says to me "We dont keep hard copies here, havnt for years"
Now I have been in, within the last year, and viewed a hard copy. So this bastard is a lazy son of a bitch. |

Just ask to see his manager next time. People like that shouldn't be in positions with human interaction.
