I live in Miami, but I've been to both Houston and Dallas.
While Houston has more density, its buildings are just kinda too "corporate" to me. Nothing against it, I think Houston has a really impressive skyline and its a cool place. I just think Dallas' architecture is more visually stimulating. Both are obviously very impressive though. |

Dallas of a skyline is the best, but of no city is better than San Antonio!
My love is San Antonio, of course behind Barcelona, and Charlotte.

Yeh but San Antonios only new skyscrapers are going to be hotels since the tourist buisness will probably not allow any small downtown offices so i think S/a will have suburban office parks until something changes...

To be fair to myself and maybe a few others, I sought out photos of the Texas cities in question. I found all of these on Flickr. I do not have a preference for any of the cities. Therefore, please do not attack me if I havne't chosen a picture up to your standards or it wasn't taken from the best vantage point. So here they are:
Amarillo ![]() Austin ![]() Corpus Christi ![]() Dallas ![]() El Paso ![]() Ft. Worth ![]() Houston ![]() Lubbock ![]() Midland ![]() San Antonio ![]() Tyler ![]() Waco ![]() Based on these photos alone! I would give my vote to Dallas as the best looking skyline overall. I do love the look of Austin at night though.

This thread says "Favorite Texas Skyline" not "Favorite Photo of Texas Skyline". That Houston photo that 'ham posted does not do justice. No one sees downtown Houston from that angle except birds and helicopters.
Houston has a much more impressive skyline than Dallas from the ground and other surrounding buildings. The Houston skyline seems much more graceful and orderly. Dallas' looks so miscellanous and junky. But, you can't judge the beauty and awe of a skyline by looking a single photo that someone found on Flicker anyway. I think the only way to make a good jugdement on the internet would be to look at the skylines from a lot of different angles. But even that couldn't replace the experience of seeing them first hand. Houston also has an advantage because of the way the buildings come up to the edge of that park to the west. Got any more photos Trae? From actually visiting these cities, here is my ranking: 1. Houston 2. Dallas 3. Austin 4. San Antonio 5. Corpus Christi 6. Fort Worth 7. El Paso Last edited by Solid; July 13th, 2007 at 08:44 AM. |

I said as much in when I posted the pics. I just wanted to give those that have never even seen a skyline in Texas a better idea than none at all. I knew someone would have heartache with it. That just goes with the skyscrapercity territory.

In addition, I have visited most of the cities I had listed photos of. I do enjoy the skyline of Dallas the most. I also enjoy the overall metro more than any other in the state.

The city or the skyline or the airport? Where are you going with that?

I think that Dallas has the best CBD, but if you want to count the whole city I would have to say Houston.
