Finally! Do you have any photos of how it looks now above ground? When I was last there the square in front of the train station was one big construction ground. What is the progress of other not yet opened intermediate stations (Municipio and Duomo)?

There is still the big construction ground because today only the station will be delivered to the municipality, while the square is still under construction. It will be lasted the next year.

Municipio is going slowly because tehere are a lot of archeological reperts, Duomo is still under construction, but the final project was approved few months ago.

The ostentation of Napoli subway over-the-top aesthetic enhancement/decor is totally out of place with the current economic climate in Italy.

Sorry but yours it's a senseless objection.

An ugly subway certainly would not cost less, and in Italy however, by law, the cost of the furniture can not exceed 3% of the cost of the whole work.

This is not ostentation, but good taste.

Wonderful photos everyone!

I'm a bit confused about the project. Does anyone know if there's a map showing A) the finished stations, B) the stations that are under construction and C) the stations and extensions that are planned for the future?

The money they spent on these stations are mostly european resurces.
Do you think that UE should finance expensive projects only when they are developed in rich countries?

here you can see the line as it is conceived, as a circle line

and here:

you can see the current situation.
Municipio and Duomo are still under construction, although part of the regular line in operation. It will take at least another year for Municipio, and at least 2 for Duomo.
Within a month will have to begin the construction sites from Garibaldi to the airport (Garibaldi-Centro Direzionale-Aeroporto).
The constructions of the stations you can see -in the final project- between Piscinola and the airport had already started but were interrupted. If the funds -already existing, but have been blocked for political reasons - were unlocked for that fraction, the first station (Miano) would be ready within a year.
My english is quite sub-standard, so I'm sorry for any mistakes.

It will restart soon. The president of the region has said that in an interview few hours ago.

No, you are getting me wrong.

The city surely needs subway, and I think subways are a good use for EU funds indeed (instead of busways or street mixed-traffic trams).

I'm all for building more subway there, and also upgrading the Circumvesuviana to modern standards.

I just think (only this) the finishing of stations is a bit over-the-top. Maybe too luxurious for a functional structure, though it inevitably looks great (no denying on that).

The path between Piscinola and Garibaldi is entirely underground.

That would certainly be worthwhile. Those trains are pretty decrepit for European standards. Running trains later in the evening would be a good idea as well. We almost got stuck in Sorrento earlier this year because of it. It was our own fault for not looking up the schedule beforehand, but still…

As for the metro it is certainly needed and the new stations looks spectacular. Not much competition in Europe for that other than Budapest.

Well, not really there is about 4.5km long part that is above ground. Past Colli Aminei the line is no more under the ground.
3 stations: Frullone, Chiaiano and Piscinola are on the surface/elevated.

If I recall correctly Centro Direzionale already has a second platform beneath the exisitng one of Circumvesuviana. Must have been built in the 70s something. WIll Municipio be designed as a transfer station to linea 6?

Kind regards
