WIth that many ppl in the population! and not many willing to give up their property for peanuts which inturn affects progress, I am not surprised at the way things are going! Infact I might say that there may be a further delay at this rate!! As long as the commuinity doesnt keep the progress in mind and dont want the country to be recognised internationally for its projects, we are in trouble!.

End of 2008 or 2009.. I know that its always been the higher end of any project that will be considered....
Is there andytime that we have not lost crores of Rs over projects like this and finishd it on time.! well I dont think thats been the case anytime. There are some or the other delays, Thanx to the politics in the country, every single one of them works for themselves... If only the public intrest is given more attention and they pick up the pace, it would be great to have more of these projects..... |

It does appears that someone screwed up the height but I don't think even the dumbest contractor will miss it by that much. I mean that is several feet off, it would be too obvious during the forming to miss it. Something else has got to be going on there and I guess we'll have to wait until it's finished to find out. |

I am a tad bit confused at the width of the elevated roads After looking at the pics in the posts 103 and 109. How many lanes is that elevated carriageway supposed to have? It appears to me that only 2 lanes can fit on top of those pillars. Going by the assumption that a tollway road of this magnitude should have 2 lanes in each direction, could someone clarify if I am wrong with my perception or is there another set of pillars yet to be constructed?

Electronics City-B'lore road project delayed
BS Reporter / Mumbai June 13, 2008, 18:46 IST The much awaited Rs 675 crore elevated road project on Hosur Road connecting Electronics City to Bangalore is delayed by six months. The cause for the delay is being attributed to two reasons. One - litigation with a private land owner and the second, IT companies pressing for additional ramps to connect Electronics City phase I and II, which is situated on the opposite sides of the main Hosur Road. "The elevated road project which began in July 2006 had to be completed in two and a half years, but now is being stretched to close to three years and will become operational only by January 2009," C S Bansal, director, Maytas Infra, the company which is executing this project. Without mentioning quantity of loss due to delay, Bansal said "We plan to approach both state and central government to give relief by way of extending the concession period, currently fixed at 20 years, as delay is due to external factors." The elevated road project tendered out by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) under build- operate- transfer (BOT) basis is to ease traffic congestion on the busy Hosur road which connects Electronic City, a hub for IT companies to Bangalore city. The Rs 674 crore project is being executed through a special purpose vehicle (SPV) - Bangalore Elevated Tollway (BETL) created by the joint venture partners involving Maytas Infra, Nagarjuna Construction Company (NCC) and Soma Enterprises (SEL). |

Its funny, how in Boston they have literally "buried" the elevated expressways and Toronto is about to do the same in the east end of the city and here we are building elevated roadways, instead of providing solid, frequent, comfortable transit service.
