Chatham Square - An Important Junction of the East Side Elevated

Elevated Railroad Station at Chatham Square, Manhattan, New York City, 1880′s.

The old IRT respected the City Hall by specifically building a branch / station for it.

Very good ideas. Hopefully it will all get done over the years. Since NYC subway is just something else and is just unbecoming for the city of such a magnitude and importance

New York is confusing like that. It's so hard to gauge sometimes, hard to reconcile.

Nice. Are they within a country mile or a new York minute of being accurate, and what will this do to alleviate track fires and overcrowding delays. You know, skeletal, concrete, tangible issues.

These appear to be based on actual geographical position of trains, so I think they would generally be accurate. Many of the lettered-line stations (such as West Fourth Street) already have "next train" indicators that are based on next scheduled departures, which are of course useless because the published schedules have nothing to do with actual movement of trains.

In my (admittedly limited) experience, they do actually keep to the timetable to a reasonable extent (about 60-70% of the time).

The timetable departure screens are useless, unless maybe you are at a terminal station like Coney Island.

From the Champlain Valley Rail Snapshots Facebook Group:

The R179 around February-March. Word is that they were rejected and sent back about a month ago.

#testtrack believe me there's no subways Upstate.

So apparently they're really ramping up track trash cleaning with new equipment and much more effort.
