What is "trick" about it? This is hardly the most unusual thing to happen on a train, although I would be reluctant to sit in that particular seat once it's been vacated by the current occupant.

Hypothetical subway connection on the West Side of Manhattan

NY by dZine
http://nybydzine.tumblr.com/day/2011/11/19

Quote:

MTA: All Transit, No Money

Once the 7 Train extension to Javits Center is finished, the new terminal may not always get many riders being at the end of the line.

Suppose the L Train is extended west to Chelsea and then connects north with Javits Center, the 7 Train, and nearby Penn Station. Some of the tunneling is already done with the tracks extending past the new station. Lettered subway cars are wider so they can’t co-mingle with the narrow numbered lines requiring separated terminals.

Suddenly Hudson Yards isn’t the end of the road but a new hub for two major subway lines offering connections to all parts of the City. The Port could add a satellite bus terminal accessing the adjacent Lincoln Tunnel and provide express service to Mr.Christie’s Big Jersey.

I know, there is no money. Too bad we borrow $2 Billion a week for a Hopeless War…

I'm in the metro NYC area visiting. Sunday I took the NJ Transit train over to Penn Station with my wife..she's never been to NYC. We walked to Grand Central from Penn station. we took the #6 Lexington Av local to 77th street. We later returned via the #6..Transfered to the Times Square shuttle. And then took the #3 to Penn station.

I found the subway in a much better condition than in the seventies & eighties. In fact Manhattan looks great compared to the 70s & 80s. I know there are some members here wanting the 106 year old NYC(IRT) subway to always be pristine. Not going to happen.
