#Completed: 53 Albert Street - 25st/83m/office/carpark
The current DA entails that 12 levels of office be constructed on top of the existing 9 levels of carpark, which will be upgraded to become 'visually appealing'. A nice lobby with a cafe will added for the office on the ground level of the carpark
A vast improvement over the carpark, but I still wished they'd just demolish and build taller.

Not every potential development site is going to have a supertower like all of us are spoiled by many times with Vis, ES, 480... that's just not the way the world works...

The annoying thing about this is is that it is quite a large site, of which there are only a few in the CBD that can handle a very tall building, that's all.

It cant be, it is in the very height restrictive area because of its proximity to the Botanic Gardens. Why do you think I'm so annoyed about this one!

^ Well there are plenty of other potential sites which have 5-10 storeys on them that can easily be replaced...

Well... i suppose its easier to demolish 25 stories of office and carpark in 20 years time and build a super massive mega tower than it is to demolish 40 stories with some kind of residential component.

ah your all development freaks and would make bad town planners. im totally against building residential high rises right next door to each other. rivercity will lose all the views they have.
you need to tier development up, not build ginormous towers at the front. thats why i dont like soul positioned where it is. i think this is appropriate use for the site and adds to alleviate the commercial space shortage. dont worry, there are stacks of sites left in the city. add up all the crap 70's concrete blocks and low rise pieces of shit and youve got all the space you need |

Brisbane's current proposed and appoved towers all seem to be either fillers and the very talls. This of course falls into the filler category.
Most of the posts in this thread remind me of what forumers were saying about MacArthur Central just over 2 years ago, which funnily enough is almost exactly the same height as this one, @ 80m. In the render below, 53 Albert looks dumpy....squat and dumpy, especially with the slender 212 on Margaret tower straddling back to back with it. Quote:

Could the title be changed to Approved.
They were taking down the mobile phone towers on the side of the carpark. Could be a good sign for the start of construction. Brisbane is going to be interesting in the coming year with this carpark becoming unuseable, Vision's carpark being unuseable and the Office Tower on the central carpark site to start construction!
