Nice update, Zorg! Thx again.

Let me also add a few things I found on the web (not THAT spectacular though, but also nice):

1. A better quality rendering of Shimao Project in Hanyang:

2. Two pics of Tianhe Airport`s new terminal (construction photo and a rendering):

3. WISCO office building:

4. Hankou Station (pay attention to its historical architecture style resembling the old colonial days' station of Hankou):

5. A 5stars 50+storey hotel in Optical Valley (forgot its' name):

6: Yet another shopping mall I guess (looks nice though, doesn't it?):

More to come when I have some spare time...

Update on Optical Valley Pedestrian Street ( 光谷世界城步行街 )!!

Sorry for the bad quality of these pics. Found nothing better . Anyway I hope it is still obvious what the new pedestrian street of Wuchang would be like. The part behind those highrises seems like a weird mix of historical european architecture styles. Honestly, it looks like Disneyworld stuff to me, but we will see how it will work out in reality later.

(colored parts are pedestrian area)

Good job, LordChaos80. This one looks to be 250m+. I counted 56 floors.

@02tonyl:

There are very different time frames for these projects. Obviously the infra structure projects have highest priority and therefore most of them will be finished within 2007/8 (Wuchang Station, Tianhe Airport, Tianxingzhou Bridge, Hankou Station maybe 2009). The completely new station might take longer to build and to connect though. Then we have mid term projects like Hanyang Shimao, Wuhan Exhibition Center, Optical Valley CBD as well as Hankou TianDi (the one STAFF quoted right before ur post). These will be finished like around 2009/2010). However, these projects include various stages of construction and therefore certain areas might be opened for public use much earlier than others. Finally, the most demanding project - Wuhan CBD - will take more than a decade to be finished (2020 projected).

Hope u have a rough but still satisfying overview now. Of course there are many more projects going on. It`s quite hard to track them all...

Regards, LC80

------------------------------------

@all:

Some more projects going on in all three cities of Wuhan:

Jindu HanPalace - Wuchang (Yangtze Riverside)

Hanzhengjie* Renovation Project - Hankou (more to be added later)

(*Hanzhengjie / 汉正街 in the very heart of Hankou is famous for harboring the biggest street market in the whole of China)

Wuhan's New Opera: 琴台大剧院 / Qintaidajuyuan in Hanyang (almost finished!! )

most recent pic I could find: seen from the distance

Wuhan Times Square nearing completion:

Office Building in Optical Valley:

First underwater tunnel crossing Yangtze River (for both cars and subway!!)

So much for now...

(also added a few pics in my previous post! See above... )

Yeah, seems to be a quite a special building. I only hope that they'll tidy up its chaotic surrounding and keep it clean afterwards...

important UPDATE...

Canīt help myself but commiting double post crime here as I`ve found some interesting material on the forums of "http://www.skyscrapers.cn". Fellow user Kapause over there created some great and up-to-date diagrams showing how (almost) all the new skyscrapers of Wuhan (under construction or soon to start construction) will compare to the existing buildings. You'll see that Wuhan's changes will be quite impressive. Enjoy:

Credits and Kudoz to KAPAUSE @ http://www.skyscrapers.cn for his great efforts !!!非常感谢KAPAUSE先生的辛苦。 下面的图都是他的本人制作!!!

green=existing / topped out building --- red=under construction / planned & approved

I'm speechless! But don't you think those diagrams are ultra optimistic about heights?

I missed this project, btw. I've always wondered about it, I only know the render, 65~ floors.

Of course, I must admit that I don`t know all the details about every single project myself, but there were articles in serious Wuhan newspapers recently confirming one building with a height of 500m as well as two towers exceeding 400m. So, at least considering the flagship projects of Wuhan CBD, I am quite confident now (although I actually had expected them to be exaggerated before as well). Most other projects heights seem kind of realistic anyway: In China, there`s nothing special about 200-300m scrapers anymore... Why should anyone lie about that? Only a pity that Polycultural Plaza obviously has been cut down... but still a nice building!

@ZZ-II: Don`t underestimate Wuhan only because u heard little about it. It is by far bigger than most statistics might tell us and perhaps China`s biggest single urban agglomeration after Shanghai (I mean URBAN!!). Although still behind the standards of several coastal cities, Wuhan finally has awakened.

@Zorg: Yeah, I`ve seen this rendering several times too and I know where it is supposed to be built just by looking at ur picture, but I don`t know its' name yet, so it is hard to find more detailed information...

P.S.: Is it only me or might we see some of the biggest boxes worldwide so far (buildings No. 2,3,4) ??
