Hi guys.

Last night I did a little bit of research on this building, mainly due to the fact that I am incredibly impressed by the design, I think it is one of the best designs for a supertall I have seen.

Quote:
According to this section plan, if the elevation is 612m, each floor measures 4.34 metres to the next floor. So the floor-to-ceiling height is probably around 3.8 metres? Also the lobby at the base of the tower is massive, it measures 56.42 metres high from floor to ceiling.
That's all I have right now, I'll look at it more later. Cheers.

Taking in account pics from today, i think status of the tower can be changed to "preparations".

I would not be surprised if this one rises faster -- there are likely fewer restrictions governing construction or safety outside of the United States; these, of course, *restrict* how quickly a building can rise. Also I'm sure the workers will be paid less so they'll probably have more of them. Not to mention the structure of the Chicago Spire is awfully complex!!

Different form makes it wider at the bottom. But what's the difference - both are quite nice. I prefer the Chicago one because it is more graceful with the twisting design. Russia Tower in my mind is a modern Pyramid version.

Well, I think that the twisting design that goes all the way up - is very new and revolutionary. Foster design is good - but there is nothing so new about it. Future Shard tower in London is very close to that. Also the wind on the Michigan Lake is horrible - so this design supposed to better withstand wind than let's say a box type.
The whole building is 100% apartments - no single office - which I like very much. It gives new meaning of living on the Lap of Luxury.
The view from the lake on the new Chicago skyline will be a million dollars view, given the place where the tower will be standing - basically a small peninsula on 3 sides surrounded by water and never be obstructed by anything else. Comparing to the Russia Tower that will stand in a middle of development filled by different shape buildings. I mean - some may like more urbanized look - but I prefer the calm and peaceful view of the lake (and a huge lake so you hardly will see the other side of it) to all the smog, cars, people, noise etc. To go to the window and see water outside - is very relaxing. Knowing that Chicago is second most busy place in US - those who will live there should appreciate the location even more just for the availability of this calming view.
