Hong Kong Classics ~

Hope people can contribute here about some Classic things of HK, where we all can come & take a look and re-visit things that had made an impression in our minds.

The First Clip I'd like to share is of a concert organised by RTHK in 1990 to strengthen & unit HKers together after the lost of confidence amidst Jun 4th of 1989 and the uncertainty of Sino-British talks.

It was a rare occasion to have all the leading singers/stars on one stage together to sing the theme song

Concert Performance (Song): http://youtube.com/watch?v=8By2Q585T2I

Alam Tam

This is our home
This is our place
This is our dream
We love Hong Kong

I think the title of the song is very suiting, since HK is known for its amazing symphony of lights, and in the clip u can see how much imagery of lights they have used, whether it was fireworks in victoria harbour, or at tsiang ma bridge, or the candle lights of 6-4 protests, 7-1 protests, HK is a focus of lights.

Below are some images from the clip, Legco/MTR Opening/Martin Lee/SARS cleaning campaign/凝聚每分光 Concert/Kaitak airport

I can't find the video but there was an advertisment back in the 80s in Keeping HK Clean. The chorus is kinda like "Lets go pitch in; To keep Hong Kong clean" sort of like that.

I couldn't find the Clips for the "keep HK Clean" Campaign either ...

But I did find the Posters & Slogans ... "HK Govt Website "To Keep HK Clean" Campaign Keeping HK Clean is every HKers responsibility"

In the mid-1980s, the Clean Hong Kong Campaign had already been very popular in the community. The theme of the campaign had been changed to care and love. The logo featuring a “heart” design and the slogan “Everybody Loves a Clean Hong Kong” were printed on some posters. In 1987, it was hoped that the community would pitch in to keep the environment clean voluntarily. The promotion activities focused on community involvement. The Clean Hong Kong promotional theme song, “We are pitching in”, was familiar to many people. The theme song, very popular in the 1980s, constantly reminded the public to keep the environment clean.

~~~ LETS KEEP HK CLEAN TOGETHER !!! ~~~
位元堂養陰丸
A cheese-y ancient advert (~70s perhaps) for those chinese herbal stuff again, the song i'm sure is all familiar to you, especially if you have seen stephen chow's movie where they imitated it
WATCH IT HERE:
Do you know your Master Q ?!
Did you grew up with reading "Old Master Q" comics ? it is a very grassroot/household HK cartoon character, we subscribed to it while we were young kids hehehe
The cartoon first appeared in the newspapers and magazines in Hong Kong in 1962, and later published as comic books from 1964. The comic is still in publication today, and a few mainstream Movies have been made
It is HK's version of Garfield, Scubby Doo ...
Long Live Master Q ~
:: 女俠 A Hero in her own right
A well-presented, well educated, multi-award winning funny actress, Josephine Siu Fong Fong, is probably best known for:
her roles in "Woman at 40 女人四十",
her role as Kung Fu Master of the Ox in Stephen Chow's "Fist of Fury",
the clumpsy TV role as "Lam Ah Jung 林亞珍",
and as Jet Li's mother in "方世玉"
the first time i watched her was actually on a tv program in the 80s-90s, where she taught people english. Thereafter, there were many TVB dramas that impersonate the era of when she became famous in the 60s-70s, like in "Larn Hing Larn Daye"
:: 蕭芳芳 功力深厚的隱姓女俠
An article of her was in the frontpage of Yahoo afew days ago:
READ HERE: http://hk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/060925/323/1tp72.html
Bio:
Josephine Siao Fong-Fong (蕭芳芳) (born March 13, 1947) is a movie star, best actress award winner of the 1995 Berlin Film Festival, and a writer. She was one of the biggest teen idols during the late 60s, along with frequent costar Connie Chan Po-chu. The two were often cast in wuxia films as disciples of the same master and sometimes—when Connie played the male lead—as young heroes in love. Back in the 1960's, Josephine's and Connie's fans maintained a heated rivalry. News of their fans getting into catfights were not uncommon in those days.
1970: Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and Asian Studies at Seton Hall University
1974: won the best actress award at Spain Film Festival and Taiwan Film Festival
1990: obtained a Master's degree in child psychology from Regis University
1995: won the best actress award at the Berlin Film Festival
1996: member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire
