I´ ve got inspired from the similar thread about railway infrastructure in Czech republic.
In Slovakia is particularly the modernisation of raliway tracks not in that scope as in our neigbours, nevertheless, especially in the last two years the tempo of tracks modernisation speeded up.

In the beginning, here is the modernised track Čadca-Skalité, finished in 2002. The main aim of the modrnisation was to increase the train speed on this track. The scope of the works included also technical railway infrastructure /signalling,information pannels.../, road crossings,etc.

Piešťany railway station is currently under reconstruction as well. But also the place in front of the station is planned to get entirely new face - nearby bus station, square and polyfunctional objects. Here are the results of the architectural competition /full scope of the projects is here.

Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko vyhlásila tender :
na dodávku poschodových súprav s riadiacim vozňom pre prímestskú dopravu. Tendra sa zúčastní aj BOMBARDIER Transportation v kooperácii so ŽOS Trnava. Obe firmy usporiadajú 15. 11. 2006 s Wagon Service Travel Bratislava prezentáciu takejto súpravy na ŽSR...


Súpravy by sa montovali na Slovensku. ZSSK predpokladá, že by hnacím vozidlom boli elektrické rušne radov 163, 263 a 363 ZSSK.

Keby to vyšlo, najmä tá montáž v Trnave, bolo by to super. Inak prímeststské súpravy Bombardier mali prezentačnú jazdu už na konci septembra na trati Martin-Čadca-Bielsko Biala-Czechowice a zrejme budú premávať na tomto úseku.

Inak super informácia, okrem: the third picture is not from Trnava, not even from Slovakia.

Great map. I am curious, when the construction start of the tunnel under Danube will be. It is a part of the new railway section between Filiálka station and future railway knot in Petržalka.
Also Štefánik airport should get railway connection.

Jupí, today early in the morning first regular connection by HST train between Bratislava and Prague started. Here´s the article. Maximum speed is 160 km/h, but the average speed about 105km/h.
On Slovakian territorry in section Kúty-Devínska Nová Ves the speed could be 140 km/h, on Czech territorry 160 km/h.

The interest of the travellers was bigger, than anticipated. It´s a competition now to the bus transport between Prague and Bratislava, the travel time is about 30 minutes shorter.
