currently, sudan nominal per capita (PPP) is $2,726 and nominal per capita is $1,982.............
on the other hand, kenya GDP per capita (PPP) is $1,746 and nominal per capita is $850.............

improving your gdp by 10 bilion alone needs a hell of hard work..............

btw, sudan has much more than just oil.

sudan has gold............ sudan is about to become africa's 3rd biggest gold producer and 10th largest in the world...............

sudan agriculture is improving day by day and sudan is also about to open the africas largest sugar factory.........

sudans darfur (currently in a bit of conflict, with a few rebels) is full of underground recources.......... it is believed to be holding large oil reserves and underground water resources............who knows, may be sudan will be exporting water during the water crisis of 2020.........

but after all, i dont mean to heart Kenya, the only thing i am trying to clarify is that sudan has a much better economy than kenyas which can transform khartoum into a better city than nairobi in the future IF no 3rd sudanese war occurs hopefully............

always remeber
peace=development
hate and war between countries and neighbours= destruction
Yes, I agree that there is a possibility of you maintaining a higher GDP but at the same time I also think that Kenya has more chances of organizing itself to achieve something great with the discovery of oil since it already has a mature and a thriving non-oil economy.

Kenya currently has a sophisticated economy and a higher standard of living than Sudan. You can look at the Human Development Index (HDI) figures to confirm this.

I wouldn't use the GDP figures so much to determine how these countries will perform as GDP is not everything. Equatorial Guinea has the highest GDP per capita at almost 21,000 dollars yet there are many countries across the continent that are more developed than it.

Kenya has a vibrant non-oil economy that is more likely to be boosted by the proceeds from oil production. So Kenya will probably have an increase in GDP based on oil exports alone plus an increase in GDP from the non-oil economy.

Anyway, it's just a prediction but in any case the Kenyan economy will still remain the most sophisticated in Eastern African region as it is now.

The oil exploration is still ongoing, it's hard to tell the quantity of oil that may be discovered in other blocks.

like which countries for example? Equatorial Guinea isn't a developed country it is a rapidly developing country.............as long a it has the highest gdp per capita then there is no way of another african country to have a better standard of living................

how can kenya have a better standard of living than sudans while its per capita is lower then sudans? its like saying somalia has a better standard of living than ethiopia

Kenya hasn't got a stronger economy than sudans, its only more developed than sudan because sudan started growing only in 2006 after a 22 year civil war so there is still a possibility that kenya might has a higher standard of living............

but the fact is, sudan has a higher gdp and on the same time also has a higher per capita............

the gdp represents the power of the nation economical, how come the USA have the strongest economy in the world? Europe has a higher standard of living but the US is much more developed...........the US has got the highest gdp in the world thats why its become the strongest nation in the world..............

the positive thing of kenyas economy is that its not that much dependent on oil and that Kenya isn't involved in any wars.............sudan currently is in a war with rebels and in the future would probably be in a war with south sudan-uganda (hopefully will never happen)

The fact is, as long as a country has a higher gdp and a higher per capita then its much more developed or capable of being more developed than a country with less gdp and gdp per capita.................

PEACE

+1 .A very clear answer and very precise. Sudan develops, but Kenya according to me is more developed. Not of infraction!

Northern Sudanese,

your affirmation there is nonsense. All in this forum will say to you that Kenya has a sophisticated economy and a standard of living better than Sudan. consult the ranking HDI of the UNDP. It is not an secret here for person.
The economic structure of Kenya is mostly compared with the economic structure of SA.

Peace!

didn't you read this quote ''its only more developed than sudan because sudan started growing only in 2006 after a 22 year civil war so there is still a possibility that kenya might has a higher standard of living''

Kenya might has a higher standard of living because it hasn't been in wars but sudans economy is still stronger than kenyas because it just started growing a few years ago.............

today, sudan has a much higher GDP and Per Capita..............standard of living isn't that important because as you look at US and EU, the EU has a higher standard of living than the US but who is more developed? of course its the US

its just the same situation between Kenya and Sudan............

btw dont insult me by saying my information is nonsense while you didn't even read my quotes properly, i said that kenya might has a higher standard of living but sudans economy is much stronger..........is that nonsense? telling someone that what he said is nonsense is like saying that he is lying. i am not lying, i am saying the truth and facts

Exactly, i didn't say sudan is more developed, i said sudan has a stronger economy than kenyas which is making sudan a more developed country in the future..........

Northern Sudan,
The economic development of Sudan is largely due to the oil. compared for Kenya, he is due in sectors of services and the industry.

Look at Angola, its economy because of the Oil in 2012 in exceeded that of Morocco, but Morocco has an economy better structured than Angola.

U understand?

i told you guys that kenya might has a higher standard of living but its economy is weaker!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG why does everyone take this so seriously?

and no, sudan is much dependent on oil but thats not the reason why sudan has a better economy than kenya...............look today, south sudan took 80% of sudans oil and sudan still has a stronger economy than kenyas, what does that suggest?

sudan has gold, its gonna produce 50 tons of gold this year and will be exporting 70 tons of gold per year by 2015

sudans agriculture is rapidly improving, sudan is about to open the largest sugar factory in Africa by the end of this year

whats the problem? i said sudan has a stronger ECONOMY THAN KENYA WHICH CAN TRANSFORM SUDAN INTO A MORE DEVELOPED COUNTRY THAN KENYA!!!!!!!

So what if Morroco has a better structured economy? Angolas economy due to oil is much stronger, when the oil runs out, it becomes weaker...........this is how economies work.............

sudan on the other hand has minerals, gold and agriculture which boost the economy alone, let alone oil...........
