Parks in your city

Of course there are plenty of parks in big cities, so you obviously can't post them all, so post your favorites? Post some pictures!

This is Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney:

Royal Botanic Gardens is a chinese garden located in Sydney's chinatown:

Hyde Park is one of the largest in the city, modeled after the Hyde Park of London, England:

One of my favourite parks in Singapore is the Marina City Park:

Even more exciting would be a new park development:

Gardens by the Bay

Another park for HK is Victoria Park which is between Causeway Bay and Tin Hau. It's also a gathering place for HK's Indonesian community and June 4th protests.

@Heavenly Creature. Great idea for a thread, and fantastic pictures of Sydney's parks. One point though. Hyde Park in Sydney was named, but [i]not[/b] modelled after London's Hyde Park. The one in London is so different in design.

Well, let's look at Frankfurt. Sadly, unlike many other German cities (especially Berlin and Munich), Frankfurt lacks any great central city park. It does have a few which I will show here, but most of it's biggest and best parks are in the suburbs or metro area.

The only real park in central Frankfurt is the Ring Park (It has various names for each section), and follows the route that used to be the city walls. You can see it clearly on this map.

Summer

Winter

Chinese Garden and Von Bethmann Park

The rest are in the suburbs or Metro. Some suburban ones.

Grüneburgpark (and Palmengarten)

Günthersburgpark

Of the metro area parks, probably the most beautiful are the ones in Bad Homburg. This is about 20minutes from central Frankfurt.

Kurpark
This amazing park has dozens of natural spring water "taps", elaborate and large, each one tastes different, swimming complex and the world's first casino.

and also in Bad Homburg, the nearby Schloßpark

I could spend forever showing photos of the many giant and small suburban or metro area parks, there are just so many, and some of them are seriously impressive. I just wish Frankfurt had some great city parks like Berlin and Munich does.

Regent's Park - 2.0 km²/487 acres | Central London

Greenwich Park - 183 acres | South-East London

Richmond Park - 2360 acres | South-West London

Battersea Park - 200 acres | South-West London

Hampstead Heath - 3.2 km²/791 acres | North London

Saskatoon has the Meewasin Valley. This is a trail system along the river connecting numerous parks and consevation areas.

Some parks in Vienna

Volksgarten:
a small but very fine park in the center of Vienna with an amazing surrounding.

Burggarten:
even smaller than Volksgarten, quite next to it

Stadtpark:
Another central park

Gardens of Schloss Schönbrunn:
not only loved by toursists but also by local residents for jogging and having a walk

Prater:
known for the amusement park that is located directly next to it having the same name. Its the largest one in Vienna with a large forest and broad boulevards.

(the large woods right of the amusement park)

Türkenschanzpark:
Allready at the periphery in the middle of cottages and villas. My personal favourite, even though it is not as glorious like the central parks and Schönbrunn.

My favourite park in downtown Toronto is Queen's Park, a park planned in the English tradition of large shady trees, in 1860. The central focal point is a large equestrian statue of King Edward VII, which originally stood in Delhi, India.

It is difficult to improve upon nature, however, and the Toronto Islands stand out as a beautiful local park:

The Southern tip of Toronto is a beach:

A City of Toronto nude beach on Hanlan's Point (taken at a discreet distance! )

A 200 year old Lighthouse that is allegedly haunted!!

A statue of a famous Canadian rower Ned Hanlan, after whom part of the Islands is named:

When I visiited Toronto I was very impressed with how the city had preserved so many of the riverways and valleys and made them into parklands and parkways. It was nice driving around and going from relatively densely built up areas into green leafy parklands and then back again. A very big-city characteristic I guess.
