The construction on the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail transit bridge is gradually taking shape on the West bank of the Willamette River. Construction is see here through and under the Ross Island Bridge taken from the Diane Hooley Gibbs Street Pedestrian Bridge.

It's the OUS/OHSU Collaborative Sciences Building, along with the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Bridge in this picture:

OK Thanks. And good to see they're expanding the light rail. On my way home on Saturday, the MAX blue line was quite packed. Here's another photo from yesterday.

Oregon Sustainability Center

Quote:
The Oregon Sustainability Center in downtown Portland was envisioned as the gateway to the region’s sustainability community. A high-rise designed in alignment with the Living Building Challenge framework, the Center would have integrated, under one roof, sustainability-driven businesses and non-profits, university-level education and research, energy policy and planning, workforce development, and public agencies.

Park Avenue West: The Legal Fun Continues:

Quote:
Court sides with Tom Moyer children in real estate family feud

Published: Friday, June 15, 2012, 8:29 PM Updated: Friday, June 15, 2012, 10:02 PM Jeff Manning, The Oregonian By Jeff Manning

Three children of Portland developer Tom Moyer won a battle Friday in what could be a protracted family war when a Multnomah County Circuit Court judge declined to appoint First Republic Trust Co. as trustee of their late mother’s trust.

The Moyer children bitterly objected to First Republic in large part because the company has been a staunch ally of Vanessa Sturgeon, their niece and Tom Moyer Sr.’s chosen successor to run the $400 million Moyer real estate empire. The Moyer children claim First Republic has stood by Sturgeon even after it came to light that more than $30 million had been diverted from various other Moyer companies, some of which the dissident Moyer children partially own. Last year, they successfully ousted Sturgeon as manager of the 1000 Broadway Building and forced the family operation to repay them more than $14 million in diverted income from the building. “We’re really happy,” said Colleen Thrift, Tom Moyer Sr.’s daughter. “Anybody but First Republic, that’s what we wanted.”

The ruling is a disappointment for Sturgeon, who has taken the helm of the Moyer operation since the family patriarch was diagnosed with advanced Alzheimer’s disease. She backed First Republic. But Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Katherine Tennyson had some supportive words for her. “I’ve heard no compelling evidence that Ms. Sturgeon somehow controlled her grandfather,” Tennyson said. “People are reaching for conspiracy theories that aren’t there.” James Cartright, the Portland representing First Republic, declined to comment. In court documents, he said the company served “diligently and faithfully in an extremely hostile and litigious environment.”

The week-long trial offered a vivid look into one of Portland’s most high-stakes and emotional family squabbles...

[...]

Virtually all of the $30 million allegedly transferred wrongfully between Moyer companies went to develop the ill-fated Park Avenue West building in downtown Portland. Moyer spent $50 million on the project but halted work in 2009, just as the foundation got poured, due to the economic crash. Sturgeon blamed the long stall of Park Avenue West on the credit crisis and the lack of large office tenants in Portland, not the ongoing family feud.

Sturgeon has stood resolutely by the Park Avenue West plan. She said on the stand that she rejected an offer to sell the project outright to Gerding Edlen. She now says that work will resume on the building in 2013. Later this summer, the Moyer factions will be back in court, this time fighting over who will serve as guardian for Tom Moyer Sr. and conservator his estate.

Judge Tennyson, herself a former family law lawyer, urged the bitterly divided camps to “take a breath” and try to find common ground. If you don’t, Tennyson said, “it only gets more wretched from here.”

[...]
And last word on this now-reduced tower:

Quote:
Sepember 12, 2012

Park Avenue West Tower will be a 26-story, 395,831 square foot mixed use development including 24 stories of office space in the heart of Portland's Central Business District. With unobstructed, 360 degree views from virtually every floor, Park Avenue West Tower takes a comprehensive approach to sustainability to create value for its tenants and has secured pre-construction LEED Platinum certification with the U.S. Green Building Council.

Portland's newest tower location is directly adjacent to Nordstrom, Fox Tower, and Director Park, is bordered by the MAX line on both Yamhill and Morrison and is one block from the Portland Streetcar and Tri-Met Bus Mall. This, coupled with the building's 6-story underground parking, will provide for multiple transportation options based on individual’s needs and desires.
