The Canadian forumers and friends did understand what I was pointing at, mainly NOT this awesome building, but what is built across the Netherlands. I see you are from " the Hague" .

Anyways, back to the topic. we are not here to discuss Dutch and European stuff but the beautiful architecture and skyline of the wonderful city of Calgary.

I have heard it said that offices in Calgary were much larger and more spacious than in other cities, and my guess is that the recession caused a tightening up of rented space. Perhaps the old days of luxuriously spacious office accommodations have come to an end.

I can go and figure why! LOL

The Bow is lovely, hope to see more skyscrapers in future Calgary.

And That Calgary tower looks just too hideous.

Perhaps, they should tear the Calgary Tower down and start over. Wonderful architecture (The Bow) tends to highlight how dreary adjacent buildings really are.

Is the Calgary Tower primarily a telecommunications tower? If so, isn't it getting a little too short considering how Calgary has mushroomed vertically over the last 30 years?

The Calgary Tower is purely an observation tower, with restaurants on top. When it was constructed in 1968, it was the tallest in Canada outside Toronto, and was designed to withstand everything from windstorms to earthquakes. It's also the world's largest olympic torch, as the top lights up on special occasions. There are no plans to destroy the building, or jack it up to make it taller.
Personally, I think it should stay the way it is, as it represents an important piece of Calgary's history. This city destroys enough old buildings to make way for new glass skyscrapers as it is.

Anyway, back to the Bow:

So here is something quick I came up with. Should be just above the tallest crane:

Thanks for the information and the photoshop. This is the best tower under construction in America. This is great for Calgary and Canada.

I find it odd to see the cladding setup run so closely to the actual construction.
I've had the impression from so many other towers that they would wait for it to be maybe at half its height until they started, here it looks so much closer.

The north side is way ahead of the south side of the building in terms of cladding. The outer glass has yet to be installed on the concave/south side, as well as the "fingertips" on the building are being used for elevator runs.

wow indeed!
i know they haven't even started interior finishes but the inside looks a lot "heavier" than in the renders... some pics give a "deathstar" inside impression...
Still, you can already feel how wide the floorplates will be, with only a thin panoramic bit of landscape far away when looking from the center of them... better get a window seat if working in that building!
