On the path towards modernity. But will miss the old buildings which housed Dave and Sons, Sivans Studio, Central Stores and others. Year after year, the pilgrimage to Bata to get shoes for the new academic year. Brings back memories.

What about the stretch from Pulimoodu to Ayurveda College ? I hope it will be taken up soon after this stretch is completed.

After Pulimoodu - Ayurveda College is completed, I think it will be a 6 lane road from Kesavadasapuram to East Fort. Correct ?

Yes, Rajesh, Pulimoodu to Attakulangara is the next stretch and already evacuation notices have been issued.

BTW the stretch is not Kesavadasapuram-East Fort, but LMS-East Fort-Attakulangara which is the part of TRDP being done by Punj Llyod and it would be a six lane, 27 m wide road.

Kesavadaspuram-Plammodu-PMG comes under a different agency, PWD (Under NH), which has been already widened in to a 24 m road.

Also a bit of NH also gets in to TRDP works, from Kochulloor to Ulloor-Medical College-Pattom corridor.

Statue in the Secreteriat Compound

There are many statues in Trivandrum City. Infact, the city stands second to Chennai in the number of Statues in South India.

Here is a statue which stands in front of the Secreteriat Building.
This is the Statue of Veluthampi Dalawa, who was the Diwan of Travancore. This great patriot, fought against British imperialism and became a martyr on March 29, 1809.

This is the Teacher's Eduction College inside the Model School Campus... Here the courses like B-Ed, M-Ed and other related Courses are offered. This is the big & best of such colleges in Kerala.
The Govt.Model School is one of the oldest schools in Kerala

Government Arts ! Golden Days (1990-92), More remembered for the 18 or so cinemas (most notably the New Theaters) nearby, the Police Training Ground and a sisterly institution nearby, rather than academics.

Anybody interested in chronicling the grand cinemas of Trivandrum ?

As far as I recollect:

1. Sree Kumar
2. Sree Vishakh
3. New Theater
4. Sree Padmanabha
5.,6.,7.,8., SL Complex (Aswathy, Athira, Anjali, Athulya)
9. Parthas
10. Kairali
11. Sree
12. Sree Bala
13. Central
14. Pattom Kalpana
15. Kalabhavan
16. Dhanya
17. Remya
18. Kripa
19. Ajantha
20. Sreekariyam Joshi
21. Mannanthala SP
22. Krishna (Kazhakootam)
23. Mahadeva (Kazhakootam)

Smile Cinemas galore...

Hmmmm.....that makes 31! Lemme add....

32) Pettah Karthika!

Btw, Pattom Kalpana has now been demolished to make way for a swanky theatre-cum-shopping complex called Kalpana Heights!

Also, several multiplex chains are scouting for locations in Trivandrum. GoK has called for EoIs for a multiplex at Palayam. Might be a PPP project.
