Yup, Trivandrum has an amazing collection - one of the best in the country. A lot of it is owed to the rulers of Travancore who were great patrons of art and architecture.

Palayam Church and the Mosque

Manoj, here is another view of the church...

The Palayam church and Palayam mosque are situated close to each other.

The picture of the mosque is an old one...
Now the palayam underpass is in this area...

Smile

St.Joesph's church is one of the most distinctive in Kerala, with its Notre Damesque styling. In fact, it is right next door to the Palayam masjid and a Ganapathy temple, representing the three main religions of India co-existing harmoniously at the centre of a metropolitian city!

Morning Walks....

Trivandrum city has a habit of waking up early morning and going for a walk...
The favourite walking greens are the museum compound, kanakakunnu palace compounds, central stadium, poojappura maidan,
enchakkal byepass road area, shangumoghom beaches,
and the kowdiar - cliff house stretch...

The central stadium will be normally filled up by the hardcored 'exercisers' (athletes and other sports men).
The Enchakkal byepass road also welcomes dozens of cyclists.

Around 110 walking associations are there in the city (Yes.. I mean walking associations).

BTW, the picture is not of a 'morning walk crowd'...
This is a picture from the Kanaka kunnu Palace Compounds where the crowd is heading for a show at the Nishagandhi Open Air Auditorium in the premise.

Stay tuned for more about Kanaka kunnu Palace premises and Nishagandhi Open Air Auditorium.....

East Fort is one of the busiest areas in the city. The City Bus Services starts from here.
This is in the East Gate of the Padmanabha Temple, and the Temple front is just 300m inside this Fort Gate.
Chala market(where one could probably buy any thing!!) open up from the East fort area.
Gandhi Park, and SreePadmanabha Theatre also stands in this area.

- These days, the Fort is lit up by a dazzling lighting system every night, various colors are used in sequence to create a surreal effect - as we can see in Rajith's post.

Wow! Never knew that Kowdiar palace had that water feature a la Taj in front of it. Wonder why it was never used to shoot moist and frolicking damsels in Malayalam movies (like Mysore, jaipur etc)? Maybe the Tvpm royals didn't want that publicity......

But great pics Rajith. Is it from a private collection?

Ajay, considering the profusion of pics taken from the air that you posted, either you have a personal UAV or a gulf-bound flight did not dump the fuel when coming back with engine trouble and squatted on the air-strip thereby causing your flight to circle Tvpm district for an hour?

Or if we follow the good frair, William of Ockham's razor principle: you are a consultant racking up miles But the outcome is always good!
