Canberra to get international flights: Singapore Airlines to launch Canberra, Wellington service soon

Quote:
After a long wait of many years, finally, Australian capital Canberra will be getting international flights. This follows Singapore Airlines agreeing to the requests for direct flights between Australian capital Canberra and Singapore, as the first ever international service from Canberra. The service will also connect New Zealand.
This article brings me to many points. Will there be sufficient demand on the SIN-Canberra route? Having fifth freedom rights for the Canberra-WLG route might feed in traffic for the SIN-Canberra, but will it be enough?

Another obvious, yet dumb, question is, will an A330 be able to land at Wellington?

Singapore has a very close relationship with both Australia and New Zealand, so there's quite a bit of inter-government traffic here.

Singapore Airlines to fly to Stockholm from May 2017

Singapore Airlines (SIA) will fly to Sweden's capital Stockholm from May 30 next year.

The airline currently flies four times a week to Moscow in Russia but from May 30, it will fly five times a week, and the flights will continue on to Stockholm's Arlanda Airport.

There are no direct flights between Singapore and Stockholm.

Stockholm would be the airline's second destination in the Scandinavia region. SIA said the flights, to operate on its new Airbus 350-900 jets, would complement the airline's existing flights to Copenhagen in Denmark, boosting connectivity between South-east Asia and Northern Europe.

Subject to approval from competition authorities, the new services will also be included in a joint venture agreement between SIA and Scandinavian Airlines. The agreement took effect in 2013 and covers flights between Scandinavia and Singapore.

SIA's chief executive Goh Choon Phong said: "With the new services to Stockholm complementing existing flights to Copenhagen, customers will soon have the choice of two convenient gateways to explore the increasingly popular Nordic countries."

Scandinavian Airlines chief executive Rickard Gustafson said: "We look forward to develop our collaboration further with Singapore Airlines and thereby be able to offer our customers a new route to Singapore from Stockholm, and also from there onwards into Asia, Australia and New Zealand."

Any plan for Silkair to replace A319 in their fleet beside 737-800/MAX 8?
What plane that Silkair is going to use to airport like in Samui that cannot receive bigger plane?

How come? It's been a recognized brand for a long time that a new livery might leave mixed impressions among frequent and casual riders. And by the way, I think the best people to ask that would be Temasek Holdings (which is controlled by the SG government).

The A380 is due for an upgrade soon I believe. Checked out the business class recently. It's still one of the widest out there.

Wrote a review of it here: Singapore Airlines A380 Business Class

I find it uncomfortably wide. No place to put your arms.
