Here are some towers built of wood!


Radio Tower Ismaning, built in 1934, demolished in 1983, height: 163 metres ( http://en.structurae.de/structures/d...fm?id=s0010728 )


Gliwice Radio Tower, built in 1935, height: 118 metres, today world's tallest wooden structure ( http://en.structurae.de/structures/d...fm?id=s0012024 )


Funkturm Rottenbuch , a 62.5 metre tall wooden tower for mobile radio services near Schongau, Germany, which was built in 2002 ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Tower_Rottenbuch )


Messturm II in Brück, Germany. Year of built: 1963, height: 54 metres. This tower was built without any metallic parts! ( http://en.structurae.de/structures/d...fm?ID=s0010788 )

The BT Tower in Birmingham is 152 metres tall and built in the 1960s. Not the greatest but certianly some form of a symbol for the city. It can withstand a 1 megatonne atomic bomb.






This is a proposed 176 metre vertical theme park for Birmingham. Pretty exciting stuff for the city:

Glasgow Tower - 127m. The whole tower can turn 360 degrees, having bearings at its base.
