PB Air shuts down on Dec 21

PB Air will shut down the business on December 21, due to the economic crisis.

Liquidator Songsak Phaktachai said the airline also does not have enough aircraft and due to losses could not lease airplane.

He insisted that the company would pay compensation to all 188 staff. The scheme would be clear within 7 days.

PB Air started the commercial aviation business in 1990.

ยูโรคอปเตอร์ มั่นใจศักยภาพตลาดเฮลิคอปเตอร์ไทย ทุ่ม 33 ล้านบาท ผุดศูนย์ซ่อมฯ บนพื้นที่กว่า 800 ตารางเมตรใกล้สนามบินสุวรรณภูมิ ชูบริการซ่อมบำรุงและบำรุงรักษาครบวงจร รวมถึงการฝึกบินและช่างเทคนิค เจาะกลุ่มลูกค้าทั้งเอกชนและภาครัฐที่มีการนำเครื่องของยูโรคอปเตอร์ไปใช้ เน้นจุดเด่นบริการได้ทันท่วงทีและรู้เรื่องการดูแลได้ดีที่สุด เพราะเป็นผู้ผลิตเองด้วย

ดร.เบอร์นาด เบรนเนอร์ ประธาน ยูโรคอปเตอร์ เซาท์ อีสต์ เอเชีย (อีเอสอีเอ) เปิดเผยกับ "ฐานเศรษฐกิจ"ว่า ในขณะนี้ทางอีเอสอีเอ ได้รับอนุญาตอย่างเป็นทางการจากกรมการขนส่งทางอากาศหรือขอ.ให้เข้ามาลงทุนเปิดให้บริการศูนย์ซ่อมบำรุงรักษาเฮลิคอปเตอร์ในประเทศไทย ใช้ชื่อว่า "ยูโรคอปเตอร์ สาขาประเทศไทย" โดยอีเอสอีเอ ได้ลงทุน 100% ภายใต้งบประมาณกว่า 1 ล้านดอลลาร์สหรัฐฯหรือราว 33 ล้านบาท ในการเปิดให้บริการศูนย์ซ่อมฯ บนพื้นที่ประมาณ 800 ตารางเมตร บริเวณถนนร่มเกล้า ใกล้กับสนามบินสุวรรณภูมิ

การตัดสินใจเปิดให้บริการศูนย์ซ่อมบำรุงเฮลิคอปเตอร์ในประเทศไทย เนื่องจากอีเอสอีเอ เล็งเห็นศักยภาพของตลาดเฮลิคอปเตอร์ในไทย พร้อมปัจจัยเอื้ออำนวยต่างๆทั้งลานขึ้นลงเฮลิคอปเตอร์อาคารต่างๆ ในไทยที่มีกว่า 80 ลาน และความหนาแน่นของจราจรทางเฮลิคอปเตอร์ในไทยที่มีเพิ่มขึ้น และการเปิดศูนย์แห่งนี้ ยังถือเป็นจุดเชื่อมในการประสานเครือข่ายที่สำคัญของยูโรคอปเตอร์ในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ และยังสามารถจัดหาผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ตรงกับความต้องการของลูกค้าได้มากที่สุดด้วย

ทั้งนี้ศักยภาพของยูโรคอปเตอร์ สาขาประเทศไทย ได้รับการรับรองในการดูแลรักษาเฮลิคอปเตอร์รุ่น EC120,AS350,EC130,EC135 และ EC155 และยูโรคอปเตอร์ยังถือได้ว่าเป็นผู้ผลิตเฮลิคอปเตอร์เพียงรายเดียวที่มีสาขาอยู่ในประเทศไทย ทำให้ยูโรคอปเตอร์สามารถให้บริการแก่ลูกค้าได้ทันทีเมื่อเกิดปัญหาแก่ลูกค้าในไทย โดยศูนย์ซ่อมฯจะให้บริการทั้งการบำรุงรักษาและซ่อมบำรุง รวมทั้งการฝึกนักบินและช่างเทคนิค นอกจากนั้นยังมีบริการ"Full-package maintenance" หรือการดูแลบำรุงรักษาครบวงจร รวมทั้งตามแต่ละความต้องการของลูกค้าแต่ละราย

ดร.เบรนเนอร์ ยังกล่าวต่อว่า วัตถุประสงค์ของการให้บริการจะเน้นความพึงพอใจของลูกค้า และจุดประสงค์ในการจัดตั้งสาขาในประเทศไทย ก็คือการให้บริการที่ตอบสนองความต้องการของลูกค้าอย่างทันท่วงที โดยฐานลูกค้าที่สำคัญคือผู้นำเฮลิคอปเตอร์ของยูโรคอปเตอร์ไปใช้ทั้งในส่วนของลูกค้าที่นำไปใช้ส่วนตัวและหน่วยงานรัฐบาล ซึ่งลูกค้าจะเป็นทั้งจากกรุงเทพฯและยังได้บริการลูกค้าในภูเก็ต และในอนาคตจะขยายเพื่อให้บริการในจุดอื่นๆ ของประเทศไทย

โดยลูกค้าของยูโรคอปเตอร์ สาขาประเทศไทย ในขณะนี้ อาทิ การดูแลซ่อมบำรุงเฮลิคอปเตอร์ แก่แอ๊ดวานซ์ เอวิเอชั่น ผู้ให้บริการเฮลิคอปเตอร์รุ่น EC130 และ EC 135 นอกจากนั้นยังมีเฮลิคอปเตอร์สองลำ รุ่นEC155 ของสำนักงานตำรวจแห่งชาติ และในปีนี้สำนักงานตำรวจแห่งชาติยังมอบความไว้วางใจให้แก่ยูโรคอปเตอร์ ด้วยการสั่งซื้อเฮลิคอปเตอร์รุ่น EC 155 อีก 3 ลำด้วย โดยปัจจุบันมีเฮลิคอปเตอร์ของยูโรคอปเตอร์ดำเนินการอยู่ในไทยรวมกว่า 30 ลำ

ส่วนมุมมองของตลาดศูนย์ซ่อมและการแข่งขันของธุรกิจนี้ในไทย ดร.เบรนเนอร์ กล่าวว่า เราได้เห็นศักยภาพที่ดีของตลาดในประเทศไทย จึงเข้ามาทำการลงทุนในไทย โดยกรุงเทพฯมีศักยภาพที่เอื้ออำนวยต่อการดำเนินกิจกรรมของเฮลิคอปเตอร์ แต่ในขณะนี้ไทยยังมีเฮลิคอปเตอร์ดำเนินกิจกรรมอยู่อย่างจำกัด เราคาดการณ์ว่าสถานการณ์จะเปลี่ยนไปเมื่อทุกคน เริ่มจะมองเห็นประโยชน์ของการเดินทางด้วยเฮลิคอปเตอร์ และเมื่อยูโรคอปเตอร์เข้ามาดำเนินการในไทย มันจึงเป็นการดีที่สามารถรับประกันถึงความสะดวกสบายที่จะเพิ่มขึ้น

สำหรับจุดแตกต่างที่สำคัญของศูนย์ซ่อมของยูโรคอปเตอร์กับศูนย์ซ่อมของบริษัทอุตสาหกรรมการบินจำกัดหรือ TAI (ศูนย์ซ่อมของหน่วยงานรัฐที่เกิดจากการร่วมทุนระหว่างกองทุนสวัสดิการกองทัพอากาศและสำนักงานส่งเสริมวิสาหกิจขนาดกลางและขนาดย่อม)ที่เปิดให้บริการอยู่ที่สนามบินดอนเมือง คือ เราเป็นผู้ผลิตเฮลิคอปเตอร์เช่นกัน และใครจะรู้เรื่องการดูแลรักษาเฮลิคอปเตอร์ได้ดีเท่ากับผู้ผลิตเฮลิคอปเตอร์อย่างยูโรคอปเตอร์เอง ดร.เบรนเนอร์ กล่าวในที่สุด

One-Two-Go adds flights to Phuket

One-Two-Go will launch a second daily round-trip flight between Bangkok and Phuket starting on December 3, with inclusive fares from Bt1,750.

One-Two-Go already operates one flight between the two destinations, after the crash accident in the island. On recovery, it will also raise daily flights to Chiang Mai and Nakhon Si Thammarat.

Eurocopter inaugurates new maintenance center in Bangkok

Eurocopter announced today the inauguration of a new maintenance center in Thailand. Located near Suvarnabhumi International Airport, the center has received official certification from Thailand's Department of Civil Aviation (DCA).

Eurocopter South East Asia (ESEA), Eurocopter's subsidiary in Singapore, has made an initial major investment in the new center, covering new facilities, specialized tools and qualification training for personnel.

Further investments may be on the horizon as the center's activities increase and this includes the possible hiring and training of local Thailand technicians.

"The inauguration of this maintenance center celebrates the latest link in the network that Eurocopter continues to build throughout Southeast Asia," declared Dr. Bernhard Brenner, president of ESEA. "We are continuously developing our service offer to satisfy our customers by providing them with products perfectly suited to their current needs."

The maintenance center, registered as Eurocopter Thailand Branch, is currently certified for the EC120, AS350, EC130, EC135 and EC155 helicopters.

The main activities include helicopter maintenance and training for Thai pilots and technicians. A branch of Eurocopter South East Asia, this center has been set up since June 2009. Being the pioneer and sole helicopter manufacturer with facilities in Thailand (Bangkok), Eurocopter is capable to provide turnkey solution to local customers with prompt service and support.

The first customers to entrust their helicopters’ maintenance to Eurocopter Thailand Branch are the operator Advance Aviation, with their two EC130s and EC135 and the Royal Thai Police with their two EC155s. Royal Thai Police fleet will reach 5 EC155B1 end of 2010.

Eurocopter has been present in Thailand for nearly 20 years. Approximately thirty helicopters from Eurocopter's civil range are currently operating in Thailand.

Rolls-Royce's strong position in Thailand

Rolls-Royce celebrates its 20th anniversary of business achievement in Thailand this year, with the number of over 300 engines in service in the Kingdom.

It established the office in 1989, 20 years after the provision of integrated power systems for use on land, at sea and in the air. Now, it witnesses the strong position in Thailand in the areas of civil aerospace, defence aerospace, marine and energy. Its customer base encompasses government agencies, commercial airlines, public utilities, pipeline operators and energy customers.

Air traffic shows improvement

Passenger demand in November was up by 2.1 per cent on year, while freight demand recorded a 9.5 per cent improvement. Passenger load factors remain at pre-crisis levels of 75.4 per cent while freight load factors stood at 56.6 per cent.

Yet, to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the improvement trends are being exaggerated by the sharp fall in demand experienced during the second half of 2008.


"Demand continues to improve, but we still have a lot of ground still to recover. We cannot anticipate any significant improvement in yields in the coming months. So, conserving cash, controlling costs and carefully matching capacity to demand remain at the keys to survival," said Giovanni Bisignani, IATA's Director General and CEO.

Passenger demand is 6.4 per cent better than the low point reached in the first quarter of 2009, but still 6 per cent below the peak levels seen in early 2008. Comparing to October (and adjusting for seasonality), passenger demand in November actually fell by 0.7 per cent, primarily due to continued weakness in North America and Europe.


Freight demand is 20 per cent better than the low point in December 2008, but still 10 per cent below the peak levels seen in early 2008. Comparing to October (and adjusting for seasonality), freight demand grew by 4.7 per cent, largely on the strength of markets connected to Asia Pacific.

ไพรมัสบุกไทยตั้งรง.ชิ้นส่วน เครื่องบินส่ง"โบอิ้ง-แอร์บัส"

นายจิม ซี. ฮูเวอร์ ประธานบริษัท และประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร บริษัท ไพรมัส อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล กรุงเทพฯ จำกัด ผู้ผลิตและส่งออกชิ้นส่วนเครื่องบินจากสหรัฐ อเมริกา กล่าวว่า ขณะนี้บริษัทได้เข้ามาลงทุนในประเทศไทย สำหรับการตั้งโรงงานผลิตชิ้นส่วนเครื่องบิน ซึ่งถือเป็นครั้งที่สองในภูมิภาคเอเชีย หลังจากที่บริษัทได้เข้ามาลงทุนในแล้วในประเทศจีน

สาเหตุที่บริษัทสนใจเข้ามาลงทุนในประเทศไทยเนื่องจากต้นทุนด้านแรงงานถูก มีความเชี่ยวชาญ ประกอบกับการให้สิทธิประโยชน์ส่งเสริมลงทุนจากสำนักงานคณะกรรมการส่งเสริมการลงทุน (BOI) ที่จูงใจการลงทุน อีกทั้งประเทศไทยยังมีอุตสาหกรรมยานยนต์ที่เติบโตดี ซึ่งอาจจะฐานลูกค้าของบริษัทในอนาคต โดยเฉพาะค่ายรถยนต์โรลสรอยซ์ ที่ปัจจุบันมีศูนย์ซ่อมอยู่ที่สิงคโปร์ และมีแผนที่จะเข้ามาลงทุนในประเทศไทย จึงเป็นโอกาสด้านการตลาดของบริษัท

ทั้งนี้ โรงงานจะตั้งอยู่ที่นิคมอุตสาหกรรมอมตะซิตี้ จังหวัดระยอง ซึ่งบริษัท ดับบลิวเอชเอ คอร์ปอเรชั่น จำกัด ผู้ดำเนินธุรกิจก่อสร้างโรงงาน และศูนย์กระจายสินค้า ได้ซื้อที่ดินจากบริษัท อมตะ คอร์ปอเรชั่น จำกัด จำนวน 30 ไร่ มาก่อสร้างโรงงาน เพื่อให้บริษัทเช่าระยะยาว 20 ปี โดยได้มีการลงนามทำสัญญาการเช่าเมื่อสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา

คาดว่าการก่อสร้างโรงงาน และติดตั้งเครื่องจักรพร้อมดำเนินการผลิตได้ช่วงเดือนธันวาคม 2553 เริ่มจากการผลิตที่ใช้แรงงานประมาณ 75 คน และค่อย ๆ ทยอยเพิ่มให้เต็มกำลังการผลิตที่ประมาณ 1 ล้านชั่วโมง/ปี คิดเป็นจำนวนคนงานประมาณ 350 คน

"ก่อนที่จะตัดสินใจเข้ามาลงทุนประเทศไทย บริษัทได้ศึกษาหลายประเทศ อาทิ ญี่ปุ่น สิงคโปร์ เกาหลี ซึ่งประเทศไทยถือว่ามีศักยภาพเหมาะสมที่สุดทั้งด้านต้นทุนและตลาด แม้ช่วงเวลานี้เศรษฐกิจจะไม่ดี บริษัทก็ยังมีความเชื่อมั่นที่จะลงทุน เพราะหาก 1-2 ปีเศรษฐกิจดีขึ้น การผลิตในส่วนนี้ก็จะเป็นการรองรับความต้องการของลูกค้าได้"

ผู้สื่อข่าว "ประชาชาติธุรกิจ" รายงานว่า บริษัท ไพรมัส อินเตอร์เนชั่นแนล กรุงเทพฯ ก่อตั้งในปี 2552 ด้วยทุนจดทะเบียนประมาณ 70 ล้านบาท จำกัด โครงการลงทุนได้รับการส่งเสริมการลงทุนจาก BOI เมื่อเดือนกรกฎาคม 2552 เป็นโครงการผลิตชิ้นส่วนโลหะขึ้นรูปสำหรับอากาศยาน (MACHINED AIRCRAFT PARTS) กำลังผลิตปีละ 800,000 ชิ้น ชิ้นส่วนคอมโพสิต (COMPOSITE) สำหรับ อากาศยาน เช่น WING FLAB DETAILS และ ENGINE FAN CASE LINERS เป็นต้น กำลังการผลิตปีละประมาณ 32,000 ชิ้น มูลค่าเงินลงทุนรวม 285 ล้านบาท เป็นการผลิตเพื่อส่งออกทั้งหมด โดยวัตถุดิบส่วนใหญ่นำเข้าจากสหรัฐ บางส่วนนำเข้าจากจีน ซึ่งในอนาคตอาจจะมีการซื้อวัตถุดิบในประเทศไทยหากมีผู้ผลิตผลิตได้

ลูกค้าสำคัญ ได้แก่ ผู้ผลิตและประกอบเครื่องบิน BOEING ประเทศสหรัฐ, ROLLS ROYCE ประเทศสิงคโปร์ และอังกฤษ, AIRBUS ประเทศเยอรมนี, BOMBARDIER ประเทศอังกฤษ, EMBRAER ประเทศบราซิล, PHILIPS ประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์ และ AIR CELLE ประเทศอังกฤษ

โดยโครงการดังกล่าวจัดอยู่ในกิจการผลิตหรือซ่อมอากาศยาน รวมทั้งชิ้นส่วน อุปกรณ์อากาศยานหรือเครื่องใช้บนอากาศยาน จัดเป็นกิจการที่ส่งเสริมการพัฒนา STI โดยตรง ซึ่งเป็นกิจการที่ให้ความสำคัญและเป็นประโยชน์ต่อประเทศเป็นพิเศษ รวมทั้งจัดเป็นกิจการที่ใช้เทคโนโลยีขั้นสูงตามมาตรการพิเศษเพื่อเร่งรัดการลงทุนในปีแห่งการลงทุน 2551-2552 ได้รับสิทธิประโยชน์สูงสุด บริษัท ไพรมัส ถือผลิตชิ้นส่วนเครื่องบินรายใหญ่ในสหรัฐอเมริกา มีรายได้รวมจากการดำเนินธุรกิจประมาณ 300 ล้านเหรียญสหรัฐ หรือประมาณ 10,000 ล้านบาท

SGA prepares for Udon Thani flights

SGA Airlines, Thailand's first commuter carrier, has finally received two larger aircraft this week, allowing it to set a firm date for launching flights to Udon Thani on Jan 17, 42 days behind the original schedule.


SGA Airlines’ two Saab 340B turboprop planes in Nok Mini livery are ready after a flight from Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, to Thailand.
The two Swedish twin-engine Saab 340B turboprop planes, each capable of carrying 33 passengers, arrived at Bangkok's Don Mueang airport on Tuesday from Australia.

Delivery of the two leased planes was delayed for one month by technical issues including repainting of the aircraft in the colourful bird-like livery of Nok Mini, a new corporate image that was adopted by SGA.

Nok Mini is a new sub-brand of Nok Airlines, the budget airline 39% owned by Thai Airways International (THAI), with which SGA has entered into a loose non-commercial co-operative agreement.

SGA Airlines is set to start deploying the Saab 340Bs on daily flights between Chiang Mai and Udon Thani from Sunday next week, after pilot training and plane registration are completed.

The Saab 340Bs open a new chapter for the privately owned airline by expanding its network and letting it use the Nok Mini identity to show a closer affiliation with Nok Air, even though there is no corporate tie or cross-shareholding with Nok Air.

SGA has operated on a limited scale for eight years. The airline currently uses only three small single-engine Cessna 208B Grand Caravan propeller planes, each seating 12 passengers, on four separate inter-provincial routes.

SGA plans to start a second daily Saab 340B flight on the Chiang Mai-Udon Thani route later this year, said Jain Charnnarong, the president of Siam General Aviation Co, which operates SGA Airlines.

The airline also intends to inaugurate regular services to Nan in northern Thailand and Xishuangbanna in China's Yunnan province from its Chiang Mai base this year, he told the Bangkok Post.

SGA currently operates flights around the North from Chiang Mai to Pai, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Rai and Nan.

The airline has set the one-way all-inclusive fare of 2,400 baht for the Chiang Mai-Udon Thani route.

Bangkok Airways ready to start restoring some flights

Bangkok Airways believes the worst of the economic and travel decline is over and is gradually restoring some of the flights and routes it had cut in recent months.

The privately owned airline will increase flights on its Bangkok-Rangoon route to 11 per week by the end of this month, from seven currently, and will add Lampang to its domestic network next month.

It is also looking at resuming services to Ho Chi Minh City in the more immediate future and over the longer term restoring flights to Hiroshima, Xian and Guilin, according to president Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth.

It suspended the four international flights in October because of weakened travel demand. Earlier it had cut services to Shenzhen, Fukuoka, Macau and Krabi.

"We have to remain cautious and be conservative in order to heal the wound," said Mr Puttipong, noting the main challenge was for the airline to return its operation to the pre-crisis level.

He sees yields remaining depressed this year because fares had fallen 30-40% as the airline, like others, had to slash ticket prices to attract travellers.

Mr Puttipong also expects an improvement in the airline's 2010 balance sheet as preliminary figures showed losses would not be as large as projected. He did not provide figures.

When 2009 results are reported, they will be enhanced by robust business in the last two months of the year with "extremely good" travel demand, especially among European holidaymakers who flocked to Samui, the resort island where the airline built its fortune.

Bangkok Airways had said earlier that it lost 1.05 billion baht in the 18 months to June 2009.

Asked whether the airline would resort to further cost reductions, he said, "There is nothing left for us to cut."

A commercial pilot and the son of Bangkok Airways' founder Prasert, Mr Puttipong said there would be a freeze in its fleet, now consisting of two A320s, six A319 and eight ATR-72 propellers, at least until 2011, when more aircraft may be needed if traffic demand improves.

Bangkok Airways remains on course to take delivery of the four new-generation A350-800 XWBs from Airbus - two in 2015 and two in 2016.

The wide-body jets were originally planned to help the airline to launch its first long-haul flights to Europe, but Mr Puttipong said they could also be used for medium-haul operations.

การบินพลเรือน ปรับโครงสร้างราคาตั๋วเครื่องบินใหม่ ขยายเพดานอัตราค่าโดยสารเป็นไม่เกินกม.ละ 13 บาท จากเดิม 10 บาท พร้อมสั่งรวมค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิงไว้กับค่าตั๋ว เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกให้กับประชาชนและสายการบิน

เมื่อวันที่ 13 ม.ค.นายวุฒิชัย สิงหมณี อธิบดีกรมการบินพลเรือน เปิดเผยว่า กรมการบินพลเรือนได้ปรับโครงสร้างอัตราค่าโดยสารเครื่องบินใหม่เป็นไม่เกิน กิโลเมตรละ 13 บาท จากเดิมไม่เกินกิโลเมตรละ 10 บาท พร้อมทั้งกำหนดให้สายการบินจัดเก็บค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิง (FUEL SURCHARGE) รวมกับค่าโดยสาร จากเดิมที่สายการบินจะแยกเก็บค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิง เพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกให้กับผู้โดยสาร รวมทั้งยังส่งผลให้ผู้โดยสารสามารถเปรียบเทียบราคาของแต่ละสายการบินได้ง่ายขึ้น ซึ่งมาตรการนี้จะบังคับใช้เฉพาะเที่ยวบินในประเทศ

ทั้งนี้ นายวุฒิชัย ยืนยันว่าประชาชนจะไม่ได้รับผลกระทบจากการปรับโครงสร้างราคาดังกล่าว เพราะยังไม่มีสายการบินปรับขึ้นค่าโดยสารในขณะนี้ และที่ผ่านมาก็ยังไม่มีสายการบินคิดค่าโดยสารถึงกิโลเมตรละ 10 บาท แต่กรมฯ ต้องปรับโครงสร้างค่าโดยสารใหม่ เพราะต้องการให้โครงสร้างราคามีความยืดหยุ่นมากขึ้น โดยเฉพาะเมื่อรวมค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิงไว้กับราคาตั๋วเครื่องบินก็อาจทำให้ค่าโดยสารสูงเกินโครงสร้างเดิม

อย่างไรก็ตาม การรวมค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิงกับราคาตั๋วเครื่องบินจะมีผลดี คือ การปรับขึ้นค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิงจะค่อยเป็นค่อยไปมากขึ้น ต่างจากช่วงก่อนหน้าที่ราคาน้ำมันผันผวนจะมีการปรับขึ้นค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิงบ่อยมาก ประชาชนก็ได้รับความเดือนร้อน ขณะที่สายการบินจะได้รับความสะดวกมากขึ้น เพราะไม่ต้องขออนุมัติปรับขึ้นค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิงจากกรมทุกครั้งเหมือนที่ผ่านมา ส่วนการควบคุมการคำนวณค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิงของสายการบินว่ามีความ เหมาะสมหรือไม่นั้น สายการบินจะคำนวณจากราคาน้ำมันตลาดโลก ซึ่งจะเป็นไปตามกลไกตลาด และการแข่งขันของสายการบิน หากสายการบินใดจัดเก็บค่าธรรมเนียมน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิงในอัตราสูงประชาชนก็จะไม่ใช้บริการและหันไปใช้บริการของสายการบินอื่นแทน

นายวุฒิชัย กล่าวต่อว่า ได้กำชับให้สายการบิน โดยเฉพาะสายการบินต้นทุนต่ำที่โฆษณาราคาตั๋วเครื่องบิน ต้องระบุราคาตั๋วโดยสารที่ชัดเจนว่าเป็นราคาสุทธิ หรือเป็นราคาเฉพาะตั๋วโดยสาร ไม่รวมภาษีสนามบิน หรือค่าใช้จ่ายอื่นๆอีก เพื่อป้องกันไม่ให้ประชาชนสับสนในการเลือกใช้บริการ.

2009 air traffic decrease less than 1%

Passenger totals passing through Thailand's six main airports last year were almost the same as in 2008, calling into question earlier worries about the state of the industry.

Total passenger throughput fell 0.87%, a smaller decline than expected earlier in the year, to 53.93 million, thanks to the recovery that began in August and dramatic gains in November and December after a major contraction in the first seven months.

Domestic passenger traffic through airports including Suvarnabhumi for 2009 rose 5.43% to 21.1 million, while international volume dropped 4.53% to 32.89 million, according to figures compiled by Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT).

However, combined aircraft movements slipped 2.44% year-on-year to 362,476, with international frequencies dropping 4.25% to 202,745 and domestic flights down 0.06% to 159,731.

Cargo throughput contracted 11.83% to 1.13 million tonnes, with international tonnage down 12.49% to 1.04 million tonnes and domestic volume off 3.78% to 94,066 tonnes.

Remarkable improvements were seen at Suvarnabhumi last year, with a total passenger traffic increase 4.91% to 40.49 million, flight frequencies up 3.36% to 253,967, though cargo tonnage fell 12.34% to 1.03 million tonnes.

Most analysts agree that the traffic recovery should continue gradually in 2010 as the slump in travel demand has bottomed out and Thailand's tourism and general economic outlook are improving.

Thanks to a surge in tourism arrivals in the last quarter of 2009, the Thai tourism industry was projected to close 2009 with a total of 14 million arrivals, down just 4% over 2008.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand now projects a 7-10% increase in 2010 to between 15 and 15.5 million visitors, "if no serious political threats arise".

นายสุเมธ บุรกสิกร กรรมการผู้จัดการบริษัทคลอง 15 ธารวนา จำกัด เปิดเผย "ฐานเศรษฐกิจ" ว่า บริษัทได้ร่วมลงทุนกับอีเอดีเอส ซึ่งเป็นบริษัทแม่ของแอร์บัส ในการสร้างสนามบินคลอง 15 ธารวนา บนเนื้อที่กว่า 100 ไร่ ย่านองครักษ์ เพื่อเป็นสถานที่ฝึกบินขึ้น-ลงชั่วคราวสำหรับเครื่องบินส่วนตัว โดยมูลค่าโครงการลงทุนกว่า 100 ล้านบาท พร้อมกันนี้ติดต่อบริษัท บางกอก เอวิเอชั่น เซ็นเตอร์ จำกัด หรือบีเอซี ซึ่งเป็นสถาบันฝึกการบินชั้นนำของเอกชนไทย สร้างโรงเรียนการบินเพื่อให้บริการฝึกบินแก่สายการบินต่างๆที่เป็นลูกค้าของแอร์บัส ซึ่งภายในสนามบินมีที่จอดเครื่องบินได้ 20 ลำ และรันเวย์ความยาว 1,000 เมตร

"การที่อีเอดีเอสตัดสินใจลงทุนสร้างสนามบิน เนื่องจากคาดการณ์ในอีก 1 ปีข้างหน้าธุรกิจการบินในประเทศจีนขยายตัวสูงมาก ซึ่งผลักดันความต้องการในการฝึกบินเพิ่มนับพันคน ดังนั้น แอร์บัสจึงส่งเสริมธุรกิจด้านการบินของไทยให้เกิดศักยภาพสูงสุดในการฝึกบินเพื่อรองรับการฝึกบินได้ตลอดทั้งปี"
สำหรับศักยภาพสนามบินแห่งนี้จะรองรับเครื่องบินแบบเทอร์เบอร์พรอพ สูงสุด 20 ที่นั่ง แต่จะไม่รับเครื่องบินเจ็ต ส่วนปัญหาเสียงรบกวนนั้นไม่มีเนื่องจากตั้งอยู่ใกล้เคียงกับทุ่งนา นอกจากนี้ได้รับใบรองจากกรมการขนส่งทางอากาศหรือขอ.เมื่อเดือนที่ผ่านมา

ด้านกัปตันปิยะ ตรีกาลนนท์ ประธานเจ้าหน้าที่บริหาร บริษัท บางกอก เอวิเอชั่น เซ็นเตอร์ จำกัด หรือบีเอซี กล่าวเสริมว่า บีเอซีเตรียมให้บริการรับฝึกบินแก่ลูกค้าที่ซื้อเครื่องบินของแอร์บัสในภูมิภาคนี้ ซึ่งแอร์บัสได้เสนอบริการฝึกบินพ่วงให้กับลูกค้าของสายการบินต่างๆที่ซื้อเครื่องบินของบริษัท โดยจะใช้สนามบินส่วนตัวคลอง 15 รังสิต-นครนายก เป็นสถานที่ฝึกบิน ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับแผนขยายตลาดธุรกิจการฝึกบินในประเทศไทยของบีเอซี

นอกจากนี้บีเอซี มีโครงการสร้างสนามบินใหม่เพื่อใช้ในการฝึกบิน บนเนื้อที่กว่า 300 ไร่ บริเวณอำเภอแก่งคอย จังหวัดสระบุรี ภายใต้งบลงทุนราว 200 ล้านบาท ซึ่งเป็นเงินลงทุนของบริษัท 60 ล้านบาท ส่วนที่เหลือเป็นเงินลงทุนจากพันธมิตรทางธุรกิจอีก 2 ราย โดยโครงการนี้แบ่งการลงทุนออกเป็น 3 โซน

ทั้งนี้ โซนที่ 1 จะทำเป็นสนามบินสำหรับศูนย์ฝึกการบินขนาดมาตรฐานและครบวงจร ซึ่งดำเนินการลงทุนโดยบีเอซี เพื่อเป็นอะคาเดมีสำหรับบริการนักเรียนการบิน ส่วนโซนที่ 2 จะเป็นพิพิธภัณฑ์การบินที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในเอเชีย จะมีการนำเครื่องบินในรุ่นต่างๆ มาจัดแสดงรวมกว่า 70 ลำ และโซนที่ 3 เป็นสวนพฤกษศาสตร์ ดำเนินการลงทุนโดยพันธมิตรทางธุรกิจ

สำหรับการก่อสร้างศูนย์การบินขนาดมาตรฐานนั้น ขณะนี้ก่อสร้างรันเวย์ขนาดความยาว 1,000 เมตร กว้าง 45 เมตร แล้วเสร็จแล้ว โดยสามารถรองรับการฝึกบินเครื่องบินขนาดน้ำหนักไม่เกิน 5,700 กิโลกรัม หรือขนาดไม่เกิน 12 ที่นั่งได้แล้ว และระยะต่อไปก็เตรียมแผนจะสร้างที่พัก อาคารเรียน ร้านอาหาร ร้านค้า และสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกอื่นๆ ไว้สำหรับบริการนักเรียนนักบิน รวมถึงเยาวชนผู้สนใจเกี่ยวกับพิพิธภัณฑ์การบินและสวนพฤกษศาสตร์ได้เข้ามาเที่ยวชมและเรียนรู้ด้วย คาดว่าโครงการทั้งหมดน่าจะแล้วเสร็จสมบูรณ์ภายในระยะเวลา 5 ปี

เมื่อเปิดให้บริการ ศูนย์ฝึกการบินแห่งนี้สามารถรองรับการฝึกบินของนักเรียนการบินได้กว่าปีละ 100 คน ในอนาคตสนามบินแห่งนี้จะเป็นสถานที่ฝึกบินของนักเรียนนักบินชั้นนำของไทยแห่งที่ 2 รองจากสนามบินดอนเมือง ซึ่งบีเอซีใช้เป็นฐานฝึกบินให้กับนักเรียนนักบินอยู่ในปัจจุบัน

"ก่อนหน้านี้บีเอซีฝึกนักบินเฉลี่ยปีละกว่า 100 คน แต่ในปีที่ผ่านมาด้วยสถานการณ์วิกฤติทางเศรษฐกิจส่งผลให้สายการบินต่างๆ อาทิ การบินไทย ไทยแอร์เอเชีย วันทูโก ที่เคยส่งนักบินมาเรียนกับบีเอซีลดลงกว่า 50% จากความต้องการจากตลาดการบินในประเทศลดลงมาก บีเอซีจึงพยายามมองหาตลาดใหม่ และพบว่าธุรกิจการบินในจีนและอินเดียยังมีการเติบโตที่ดีมาก เห็นได้จากยอดสั่งซื้อเครื่องบินภายใน 20 ปี จีนและอินเดียมีความต้องการเครื่องบินใหม่กว่า 6,000 ลำ มีคนจีนและอินเดียเดินทางไปเรียนนักบินมากกว่า 300-400 คน"

ดังนั้นจึงเป็นโอกาสที่ดีหากบีเอซีจะเจาะตลาดใหม่ๆนี้ โดยดึงนักเรียนนักบินของจีนและอินเดียเข้ามาฝึกบินในไทย จากปัจจุบันที่มักจะเดินทางไปเรียนการบินที่ออสเตรเลียและสหรัฐอเมริกา ซึ่งมีค่าใช้จ่ายสูงมาก แต่ถ้ามาเรียนในประเทศไทยซึ่งมีมาตรฐานการเรียนการสอนที่ดีเทียบเท่า ในขณะที่ค่าใช้จ่ายในเมืองไทยถูกกว่า รวมถึงไทยมีภูมิประเทศและภูมิอากาศเหมาะสมในการฝึกบิน ทำให้ใช้ระยะเวลาเรียนและหลักสูตรการบินที่กระชับได้ ตรงจุดนี้น่าจะเป็นสิ่งที่ดึงดูดให้การเข้ามาเรียนการบินในไทยได้รับความนิยม

ประกอบกับในขณะนี้ทางคณะอนุกรรมาธิการพัฒนากิจการการบินเพื่อความเป็นหนึ่งของอาเซียน ในคณะกรรมาธิการการคมนาคม วุฒิสภา กำลังอยู่ระหว่างการผลักดันให้ประเทศไทยเป็นศูนย์กลางการฝึกบินแห่งเอเชีย โดยทางคณะอนุกรรมาธิการฯได้ร่วมมือกับ 4 กระทรวงหลักที่เกี่ยวข้อง ได้แก่ กระทรวงคมนาคม ในฐานะหน่วยงานที่รับผิดชอบการบิน กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ กระทรวงพาณิชย์ และกระทรวงการศึกษาธิการ ได้ร่วมกันลงนามในความร่วมมือที่จะผลักดันนโยบายดังกล่าว และได้วางกรอบการทำงานร่วมกัน

โดยให้กระทรวงคมนาคมดูแลเรื่องการออกใบอนุญาตทางการบิน กระทรวงการต่างประเทศดูแลเรื่อง
วีซ่าการเข้าประเทศเพื่อมาเรียน กระทรวงศึกษาธิการดูแลเรื่องการออกบัตรนักเรียน และให้กระทรวงพาณิชย์ดูแลเรื่องการขายและการโปรโมต ซึ่งในช่วงต้นปี 2553 นี้ ทางกรมส่งเสริมการส่งออก กระทรวงพาณิชย์ก็จะเดินทางไปจัดโรดโชว์ที่อินเดียและจีน เพื่อสร้างความเข้าใจและเชิญชวนนักเรียนจากจีนและอินเดียเข้ามาฝึกบินในไทยด้วย

อย่างไรก็ตามภายหลังจากที่รัฐบาลให้การสนับสนุนที่จะให้ไทยเป็นศูนย์ฝึกบินของเอเชียอย่างจริงจังเช่นนี้ ก็จะเป็นช่องทางที่จะทำให้บีเอซีมีลูกค้าเพิ่มขึ้น โดยคาดว่าในปีแรกจะมีนักเรียนนักบินจากจีนและอินเดียมาฝึกบินในไทยประมาณ 80 คน และเป็นลูกค้าในประเทศไทย 20 คน รวมแล้วจะทำให้มีลูกค้าอยู่ในระดับเท่าเดิมที่ 100 คนต่อปี และมีรายได้ประมาณ 160-200 ล้านบาทต่อปี จากการฝึกบินตามหลักสูตรที่กำหนด 6 เดือน ค่าเรียน 2 ล้านบาทต่อคน

นอกจากการดำเนินธุรกิจด้านการฝึกบินแล้ว บีเอซี ยังขยายธุรกิจ โดยเปิดให้บริการเครื่องบินเช่าเหมาลำ สำหรับกลุ่มลูกค้านักธุรกิจและนักท่องเที่ยวที่ชอบการเดินทางที่รวดเร็วและเป็นส่วนตัว โดยได้เปิดตัวบริการใหม่ "แอร์ไซต์ซีอิ้ง" หรือการนั่งเครื่องบินชมวิวพระอาทิตย์ตกในมุมสูง โดยเปิดขายใน 2 เส้นทาง คือ กรุงเทพฯ และอยุธยา ในราคาขายเริ่มต้น 2,900 บาทต่อที่นั่ง ระยะเวลาต่อเที่ยวบินประมาณ 40-60 นาที ขณะนี้เปิดให้บริการวันละ 3 เที่ยวบินหรือประมาณ 9 ที่นั่งต่อวัน

สำหรับฐานลูกค้าจะเป็นกลุ่มลูกค้าครอบครัว เยาวชน และคู่รัก ซึ่งในขณะนี้บีเอซีจะเน้นโปรโมตบริการใหม่นี้ผ่านสถาบันการศึกษาต่างๆ อาทิ โรงเรียนนานาชาติต่างๆ เพื่อสร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้เยาวชนนักเรียนที่สนใจเกี่ยวกับการบินได้ร่วมกิจกรรม พร้อมแนะนำบริการใหม่นี้กับผู้ปกครองและเด็กนักเรียนที่สนใจได้ลองสัมผัสประสบการณ์การบินในราคาที่ประหยัดครั้งนี้ด้วย

Thailand, Switzerland agree to increase flights

BANGKOK, Jan 18 (TNA) – Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya and Swiss Ambassador to Thailand Christine Schraner Burgener on Monday signed an agreement for unlimited air services between and beyond their respective national territories.

The accord was made between the Thai government and the Swiss Federal Council to improve the previous version of such the agreement written in 1984 by changing the currently limited number of airline flights for passengers and air cargo between the two countries to be ‘unlimited’, as well as to promote air services, commerce, tourism and improved relations overall.

At present, 15 direct weekly flights are operated from Thailand to Switzerland and vice versa, with 14 flights between Bangkok and Zurich and one flight linking Phuket and Zurich. (TNA)

Carriers climb back into comfort zone

The plight of Thai-registered airlines does not seem as bad as feared earlier as several carriers are paying employees bonuses for 2009 and bringing back a pay rise for this year.

Returning from the worst crisis to hit the world's aviation industry, Thai Airways International (THAI), Thai AirAsia and Nok Airlines agreed to reward their staff, citing hard work that turned their balance sheets around.

Less fortunate carriers such as Bangkok Airways cannot do the same.

The flag carrier offered its staff a bonus equivalent to half of their monthly salary for 2009 operation and a maximum 4% pay rise effective this month.

The low-cost carrier Thai AirAsia, 49%-owned by Malaysia-based AirAsia, has granted its 1,700 employees bonuses equivalent to 1-2 months of their salary and an increase of as much as 6% in the 2010 wages, depending on performances.

Nok Airlines, the budget airline 39% owned by THAI, gave its 560 employees an initial one-month bonus and will pay an additional 30% of the monthly salary later this month. It also agreed upon a 3-4% salary increase for 2010.

In spite of stagnant traffic and drops in revenue and profitability, Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT), the operator of the kingdom's six major airports, maintained its generous employee rewards.

AoT staff took home a bonus equivalent to four months's salary for their work for the year to last Sept 30. They will also see their monthly paycheques increasing by about 7.5%

In the previous fiscal year, AoT employees enjoyed a seven-month bonus and an average 8% increase in salary.

Executives said the bonuses and pay raises were to reward staff whose contributions enabled their companies to weather the unprecedented storm of oil price spikes, domestic political unrest, global economic crisis and severe travel downturn in the past two years.

Management also saw the need to keep their staff motivated to enable their companies to cope with the continued uncertainties in the operating environment for the new year even though they foresee less pressure.

A dramatic improvement in business in the last quarter of last year, especially during the festive season, largely improved 2009 accounts, as bonuses and pay raises were unthinkable in 2008.

THAI's profit in the last quarter of last year offset the 1.57-billion-baht loss through the first nine months. The airline did not say how much net profit it made for 2009 pending account auditing, though THAI chairman Ampon Kittiampon put the earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) at around 25 billion baht.

The bonus payment is expected to cost THAI 665 million baht while the pay rise will set it back by about 600 million baht, according to the airline's president, Piyasvasti Amranand.

PB Air's debts escalate to B2bn

The ongoing liquidation of PB Air has seen its outstanding debts balloon to about 2 billion baht - up from 1.7 billion to 1.8 billion baht - as more creditors rush to seek payments.

Local and international creditors to the carrier, founded by Boon Rawd Brewery baron Piya Bhirom-Bhakdi, now total 400, including 188 laid-off employees who are entitled to as much as 40 million baht in severance payment.

The major creditors include Bangkok Airways, still waiting for about 10 million baht for leasing two ATR 72-500 turboprops to PB Air between April and October last year.

Though it ceased operation in November last year, PB Air officially folded last Dec 21, when it registered for closure with authorities.

PB Air had struggled to stay afloat for 19 years with an accumulated loss of about 2 billion baht due to the poor business environment.

Liquidator Zongsak Phaktachai yesterday insisted the airline had every intention of settling the debts, with former employees the first to get paid.

Employees have already received partial payment with overdue overtime wage and other employee benefits.

Liquidators are compiling the airline's assets including those in its six provincial stations to raise money to clear debts, while creditors have been notified of the amount of debts PB owed, said Mr Zongsak.

He said the chance of PB Air being revived is zero due to too many problems, especially the lack of aircraft of its own.

Company insiders have said Mr Piya decided to end the struggling "great little airline" after failing to find prospective foreign buyers that could provide a capital injection to enable the airline to continue operating.

PB Air had hoped to find foreign partners to support its revised business plan, which included the leasing of two turboprop Saab 340s from the US-based aircraft lessor AeroCentury for five years.

But failures to strike a deal with prospective partners complicated the delivery of the two Saab 340s to PB Air, which was planned for September and October last year.

These two 33-seat planes were supposed to substitute the two ATR 72-500s leased from Bangkok Airways.

The lease of Bangkok Airways's ATR 72-500s came after PB Air returned two Brazilian-made Embraer ERJ 145 LR jets to the American aircraft lessor Gecas on April 18 last year after seven years in the airline's service.

Furthermore, Mr Piya has opted to devote his financial resources and attention to his new luxurious hospitality venture, the 3-billion-baht Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Krabi's Phulay Bay, which was opened last Dec 22.

PB Air operated from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport to six domestic destinations including Lampang, Mae Sot, Nan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakhon Nakhon, Buri Ram and Roi-et.

Business as usual for JAL Thai base

Japan Airlines' Thai base and operation are still intact but an air of uncertainty hangs over the carrier, declared bankrupt with US$25.6 billion in debts, as it starts an overhaul under new management.

The airline's Thai unit has assured the travelling public that it will keep operating flights through Bangkok, while pledging that it will honour business contracts and try to maintain the status quo of its Thai base."It's been business as usual for us here and we expect that to remain so," Sutin Srivarakiat, deputy manager for JAL's Thailand and Indochina operation, told the Bangkok Post.

JAL's Thai unit, with 137 locally employed staff plus about 1,000 Thai cabin attendants, has so far been immune from the country's biggest post-war corporate failure outside the financial sector.

There have yet to be any layoffs or pay cuts although the Thai unit, one of JAL's most important overseas operations in terms of business and profitability, has undergone typical cost savings in recent years like most airlines around the world, said Mr Sutin.

But JAL said earlier that a painful restructuring would be necessary under its new corporate chief, with more than 15,600 jobs to be cut, reducing the workforce by a third, and many loss-making routes likely to be slashed.

JAL was among the first foreign carriers to fly to Thailand. Flights from Japan started more than 50 years ago, soon after the formation of the Japanese flag carrier.

The airline operates a frequent service between Thailand and Japan: two flights a day to Tokyo, a daily flight each to Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka (under a code-share with Thai Airways International), plus six cargo flights a week from Bangkok to Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Mr Sutin said that travellers - especially Japanese travellers, who are JAL's main customer base - were confident JAL would continue flying because the Japanese government has made it clear that it would render full support to keep the once-iconic airline in the sky.

JAL, which carries more than 50 million passengers a year, is set to receive almost $10 billion in public funds and emergency loans under a three-year turnaround plan.

The process will be largely similar to that of United Airlines, which went through Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the early 2000s and emerged to stay in business, said Mr Sutin.

นางสุภาภรณ์ บุรพกุศลศรี รองกรรมการผู้อำนวยการใหญ่ (สายงานแผนงานและการเงิน) บริษัท ท่าอากาศยานไทย จำกัด (มหาชน) แจ้งตลาดหลักทรัพย์ฯว่า ตามที่ ตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย (ตลท.) ได้กำหนดให้บริษัทจดทะเบียนที่ผลประกอบการเมื่อเทียบกับงวดเดียวกันของปีก่อน มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงเกินร้อยละ 20 ให้รายงาน ตลท.ทราบพร้อมชี้แจงเหตุผลนั้น


เนื่องจากผลการดำเนินงานสำหรับไตรมาสที่ 1 ปี 2553 เริ่มตั้งแต่ 1 ตุลาคม 2552 - 31 ธันวาคม 2552 ของบริษัท ท่าอากาศยานไทย จำกัด (มหาชน) และบริษัทย่อย (ทอท.) มีรายได้จากการดำเนินงาน 6,221.63 ล้านบาท ค่าใช้จ่ายในการดำเนินงาน 4,825.12 ล้านบาท กำไรจากการดำเนินงานรวม 1,396.51 ล้านบาท เมื่อรวมกำไรจากอัตราแลกเปลี่ยนจำนวน 440.79 ล้านบาท กำไรจากการจำหน่ายเงินลงทุน 185.51 ล้านบาท ขาดทุนจากการด้อยค่าสินทรัพย์ 159.13 ล้านบาท ดอกเบี้ยจ่ายและอื่นๆ จำนวน 553.44 ล้านบาท และภาษีเงินได้จำนวน 512.20 ล้านบาท แล้ว ทอท.มีกำไรสุทธิ คิดเป็นจำนวน 798.05 ล้านบาท เพิ่มขึ้นจากงวดเดียวกันของปีก่อนซึ่งมีผลขาดทุนสุทธิ 1,679.30 ล้านบาท คิดเป็นจำนวน 2,477.35 ล้านบาท หรือร้อยละ 147.52


สำหรับการเพิ่มขึ้นของผลประกอบการ เนื่องจาก1. ปริมาณจราจรทางอากาศรวม 6 ท่าอากาศยาน ในเดือนตุลาคม 2552- ธันวาคม 2552 เพิ่มขึ้นเมื่อเทียบกับช่วงเดียวกันของปีก่อน เนื่องจากสถานการณ์การท่องเที่ยวไทยโดยรวมที่เริ่มฟื้นตัวขึ้น ส่งผลให้มีกำไรจากการดำเนินงาน 1,396.51 ล้านบาท เพิ่มขึ้น 307.29 ล้านบาท หรือ ร้อยละ 28.21


2. ในงวดบัญชีนี้มีกำไรจากอัตราแลกเปลี่ยนจำนวน 440.79 ล้านบาท เพิ่มขึ้นจากงวดเดียวกันของปีก่อนซึ่งมีผลขาดทุนจากอัตราแลกเปลี่ยนจำนวน 2,340.51 ล้านบาท สาเหตุหลักเนื่องจากการแข็งค่าของเงินบาททำให้เกิดกำไรจากการปรับมูลค่าตามอัตราแลกเปลี่ยน ณ วันสิ้นงวด เมื่อรวมผลขาดทุนจากการทำสัญญาป้องกันความเสี่ยงแล้ว มีกำไรจากอัตราแลกเปลี่ยนสุทธิเพิ่มขึ้น 2,781.30 ล้านบาท หรือ ร้อยละ 118.83 ส่งผลให้กำไรสุทธิของปีนี้เพิ่มขึ้นเกินร้อยละ 20 เมื่อเทียบกับปีก่อน

AoT profits return in last quarter

Airports of Thailand Plc pulled off a financial turnaround last quarter by reporting a net profit of 798 million baht.

The earnings of 56 satang a share in the period to Dec 31 marked a reversal from the same period a year earlier when AoT recorded losses of 1.68 billion baht or 1.18 baht a share.

The return to profitability in the first quarter of the fiscal year was largely driven by foreign-exchange gains, the economic recovery and a surge in arrivals compared to the same period the previous year which was marred by mass protests and political turmoil.

AoT, which operates the country's six major airports including Suvarnabhumi, recorded a foreign-exchange gain of 440.8 million baht, versus a loss of 2.34 billion the year before, thanks to the baht's appreciation.

Revenue increased by 15.22% year-on-year to 6.22 billion baht, with income from aeronautical operations growing by 18.16% to 3.46 billion baht while non-aeronautical revenue rose by 11.74% to 2.76 billion.

Total expenses also rose, increasing by 11.93% to 4.82 billion baht, according to an AoT statement issued yesterday.

The majority state-owned enterprise's improved revenue resulted from increasing flight frequencies and rising passenger and cargo traffic through its airports which registered year-on-year growth of 19.61%, 33.72% and 26.71%, respectively.

AoT lost 10 days of business from Nov 25 to Dec 4, 2008 when the People's Alliance for Democracy occupied Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang airports in Bangkok. Traffic through the airports plunged as travellers shunned Thailand.

Profit in the last quarter fell short of the 1.18 billion baht forecast by a Thomson Reuters poll of three analysts.

But AoT and analysts agreed that the company would post a higher net profit for fiscal 2010 than the 717.26 million baht (50 satang a share) in fiscal 2009.

Turkish Airlines strengthens its focus on Thailand

Turkish Airlines will be increasing its services to Bangkok later in the year with at least 10 flights weekly or up to double daily to Bangkok if the code-sharing plan with Thai Airways International is agreed, Adnan Aykac, Turkish Airlines General Manager for Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia said

Bangkok is also used as the regional headquarter for Indochina and Asia. Turkish Airlines will also wrap Baiyoke Tower to highlight the airline's campaign "Globally Yours".


Worldwide, the airline served 25 million passengers last year. This year, the global network would also be expanded to cover the US and Africa.


To Aykac, even though Thailand has faced several difficulties both economic and political in the last year, but it announced a six percent increase in load factor over the previous year taking the load ratio to 80 percent.


"As a European carrier Bangkok is the most important destination in the Far East and we have some exciting plans for 2010-2011. Turkish Airlines is also well into talks with Vietnam Airlines on cooperation between Ho Chi Minh and Bangkok in pursuit of making Bangkok as our regional hub linking Southeast Asia with Indochina," he said.

Turkish Airlines makes Bangkok its regional hub

Turkish Airlines is moving to consolidate Bangkok as its regional hub as it aggressively expands in Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

The Istanbul-based carrier is counting on Thai Airways International (THAI) as its strategic partner to begin its foray into the Australia-New Zealand market.

The airline plans to extend its non-stop flight from Istanbul to Bangkok through to Ho Chi Minh City in October, while Kuala Lumpur and Manila are also on the radar screen for flight extension, possibly next year.

It hopes to increase its Istanbul-Bangkok flights from daily to twice daily later this year if its plan to extend services to Australia-New Zealand partnering with THAI materialises.

Adnan Aykac, general manager for Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, said yesterday that negotiations with THAI to form a code-share partnership began about a year ago and had been slow.

Turkish Airlines would switch its passengers to THAI-operated flights to Australia under the plan, but THAI does not see any urgency to co-operate.

"While we are hopeful we can strike a deal with THAI later this year, we do have alternatives to support our growth in this region," he said.

The airline sees Australia as a lucrative market not adequately covered and wants to exploit THAI's extensive Australian routes, before entering the region itself.

Turkish Airlines transfers about 30,000 of its passengers a year to THAI's Australian network, and Turkish has had a sales office in Australia for 15 years.

He said a code-share deal with THAI would result in Turkish Airlines feeding some 40,000 passengers a year to THAI's Australian-bound flights.

The airline wishes to work with THAI on Australian operations although the Australian government signed its first air services agreement with Turkey this week allowing direct flights.

Turkish Airlines bucked the trend of slumping traffic through Bangkok last year, when domestic political unrest, the global downturn and H1N1 flu hurt the airline business. It claimed a 5% increase in traffic through Bangkok in 2009, raising its load factor by 6% from 2008 to an average of 80%.

The airline expects to increase these numbers as it strengthens brand awareness in the Thai market. It has budgeted 30 million baht for advertising and promotion this year, perhaps the largest sum for a foreign carrier in Thailand.

The airline allocated US$70 million for advertising worldwide this year, 50% more than 2009. "We hope 2010 will be way different (in growth figures) for us (in Thailand)," he said.
