Difference in December 2005 and December 2006 was probably down to the basing of a total of 5 aircraft from Ryanair during 2006 (2*in March and 3*in October).

Interesting to note that of the three airports above us in the passenger carrying league table both Belfast and Newcastle carried less than us in December and Bristol carried the same. This is due to the fact there figures are heavily influenced by the summer charter market, whereas the tour operators do not tend to give us our market share.

The flyGlobespan Liverpool/New York JFK route will be flown westbound via Knock on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday in the summer period.
The airline also says that they operate eastbound via Knock also on the same days but I think thats a mistake on their part. In fact I think the airline is making an error in flying via Knock in the first place. To make the route get established they must have the right product and adding to the journey time is NOT a plus in my book. |

People who have already booked and paid money for a DIRECT Liverpool to New York flight are no longer getting what they paid for. I don’t think passengers will be to happy about stopping in the middle of no where en-route to New York. This decision by FlyGlobespan does raise a question about bookings on this service, if enough people where booking then they wouldn’t need to stop-off somewhere but clearly they don’t think they can fill the aircraft on a daily bases from Liverpool.

Re filling of the plane with enough passengers.
I fail to see that the route depends on landing at a West of Ireland airport to upload passengers from a area with a local population of around 60k-70k people! The cost of landing at Knock and the higher consumption of fuel etc in doing so must be quite a bit, so the only thing I can think of that may offset all of this is that the airline will get money from some sort of Development Fund.

FlyGlobespan have changed their website to include a low fare finder, basicly a calander showing the prince of flights for every day of the month. Could help get a cheaper deal to NYC direct from Liverpool.

They are a very very odd airline, and who knows how long they will be around. People are more environmentally conscious these days, and everyone knows the carbon sin of take-off and assent is higher than that of cruising or landing. So taking off twice is just not good, apart from the time delay that is guaranteed and greater time delay that is risked (because of unexpected delays on the ground). Pity, but I don't think flyglobespan are serious - they mucked about with the Prague route, mucked about with Newark or JFK, and have mucked about with "Knock or not Knock". I'm tempted to write them off as time-wasters. I'd certainly not trust them with the whole booking fee, I think they were accepting a deposit only when they opened bookings for this route.

Where does it say EVERYDAY? They have been given permission to do it three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and BTW, thats more than enough) so its NOT EVERYDAY.

I went onto the FlyGlobespan website, that’s www.flyglobespan.com, remember three W’s. I then selected the Irish part of the site, to do this click the green, white and orange flag. I then selected “Ireland West Knock” to “New York JFK” And when I posted yesterday it listed flights operating Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is NOW showing as operating via Knock every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Anyways, what is the reason for you attitude? All you had to say was “its showing as 3x per week via Knock” not you sarcastic pish! You can do with a kick up the arse, I hope someone in here does it because you personally are giving me a very bad image of Liverpudlians, shame really as I enjoyed my visit to Liverpool.

It has never been daily. It has never said on the airline site daily. All publicity has never mentioned daily. So all in all, however way you dress it up, the post was inaccurate to say the least.
You don't know I come from Liverpool, you presume I do. In fact my family hails from the Ibrox area of Glasgow and Dumfries. So do I give Glaswegians a bad name? Also, if you went on many of the Scottish aviation etc forums would JC (those who read them will know who I mean) give all Scots a bad name? BTW, the Irish flag does not contain orange, its gold.

The Irish tricolour is a revolutionary flag from the C18th and was inspired by the French tricolour. It was first hoisted by the United Irishmen, a republican organisation that was led by educated protestants in the main and whose organisation's name reflected their aim to unite all Irishmen - protestant and catholic - against British rule in Ireland.
Their flag, which was to become the flag of the Irish Republic reflects this: green to represent the Irish Catholics, Orange to represent Protestants and white to represent the peace between them. No gold to be seen. |
