I will try to keep ya posted on new updates in SLC. I work in downtown SLC, so I see new developments happening all the time. Plus, I work at an engineering firm as well. In fact two of those projects listed, I did some platting and mapping on.

Thanks for the updates everyone! It looks fantastic.

I love the plans for 10+ story office buildings around the new IHC hospital, as well as tentative plans for the new tallest building in the city! And the Frank Gehry project, of course. That's big news around here.

It looks like downtown is really taking off!

Dose anyone know where I can get more information about the Wasatch Partners Towers? I understand that the plans are still primitive.

South Salt Lake to get a 25-27 Story Residential Tower.

It was first reported as a 25 story tower, but the latest article says it will be a 27 story tower. It may be a typo. But who knows. Either way its still good height.

Sugar House Powers Have a Conflict in Vision

Craig Mecham wants to invest nearly $200 million dollars in Sugar House. However, progress has stalled and city leaders could mandate penalties that could derail his vision.

I am so pissed at this community right now. They have essentially destroyed Sugar House. Even if this project ever seriously gets off the ground (and that's a big if at the moment), rents will be too high for most of the traditional local shops that make this place great to move back in.

So there is a lot of talk by folks here in California of boycotting Utah businesses for the LDS Church's heavy backing of Prop 8. I'm curious if you guys are hearing anything about that.

That will never, ever happen. The Mormon Church HQ building is not hideous and I don't think it's ugly. Mormons would never say that the building is ugly. Only a non-Mormon would think of that suggestion. If you said that, then the Mormon Church would be angered. Plus, it's too much of a major feature of the Salt Lake skyline to pass. If the Mormon HQ dies, it would be like post-9/11 New York or Detroit after the JL Hudson Building died.

I'm from SLC and wouldn't miss that building (and I could see it from my window). It's quite ugly.

Yes, it received a lot of media coverage, and it's the stupidest thing. It's like boycotting the entire Middle East because of suicide bombers.

Just stopped by to congratulate you all on your national championship. Looks like you've got some cool projects going on here too, I'll have to browse this thread.
