Besides the horrible plight of the people. What strikes me is all the garbage...everywhere! And also the yellow skies

Just crazy. (Western) Europe sure have some crappy (commieblock) neighborhoods but nothing even close to this. What a major Tragedy! And so close to the twin towers it's so surreal....

It's not like that anymore. Damn it, it's almost as if people just look at the pictures and don't bother reading anything...

Am I kidding!? Do I look like I'm kidding? DO you see people shooting in drugs in pure daylight all over the place like before? Do you still find needles and broken glass all over the streets? Becuase I don't. I'm thankful my neighb. isn't what it used to be. I have never been mugged, beat up in the streets or anything in the places I've been. And I travel to far ends of the boroughs all the time. Yes, there's still parts of the city in shabby conditions (some areas of Brooklyn and the Bronx, just to name a few)but they have bean decreasing through the years.

Well yes, some things still remain. Doesn't this happen in all cities? Like you said, every once in a while...

Things have changed for the better in most places and thats what I was trying to get at.

so what is the worst hood in NYnowadays, and is it as bad as those pictures? I saw a documentary about Camden(?) on the Dutch televison that had 80 murders a year on 80.000 inh. or is that outside NY city?

Camden is a city in New Jersey... Not New York.

i lived in brooklyn during the late 80's - early 90's which had many places just as bad as those seen in the pictures, wish there were more pictures of the other boroughs...most of that looks like uptown/bronx

I am simply shocked with the way some places in NYC looked. I've never seen such poverty. Why was there not a revolution in the states?
