Wow, those major electronic companies sure have some crappy headquarters!

Who would think Sony or Toshiba would be in a building like those?

General Motors (world's largest automaker, 1925? to 2006) recently moved to the Renaissance Center in Detroit after purchasing the seven-building complex for $75 million (that is less than 11 million per building!). The central 73 story tower is actually a hotel but the four 39 story and two 20 story octagonal structures contain offices of GM and subsidiary EDS.

For the previous 80 years the Albert Kahn designed building shown below was the GM headquarters (at completion was the 2nd largest office building in the world after New York's Equitable Building):

(Ford and Diamler Chrysler are not headquartered in Detroit)

I had to think hard about world headquarters located in Hamburg, because most headquarters here are national or european ones.

Well, I have found some:

OTTO (is the world's largest mail order company)

HAPAG-LLOYD (the fifth largest shipping company in the world)

HOLSTEN Brewery (With all their subsidiaries they have the biggest output in hectolitres in Germany and they produce Germany's 2nd most exported beer. Carlsberg bought the company two years ago)

administrative building on the left side

Beiersdorf (inventors and producers of world famous bodycare brand NIVEA)

Tchibo (Germany's biggest coffee roaster and a big mail order company too, is also present in many other european countries)

Hamburg Süd (another big shipping company, also has a big amount of own containers, so it is very likely to find at least some Hamburg Süd containers on any container vessel worldwide)
