I do not mean to offend anyone, but what I would like to know is if the person who posted a picture like this posted it because he/she thinks that the melting pot of buildings of all different sizes, shapes and styles is attractive, and something to be proud of, or did he/she post it here merely to show that there have been a building boom in Tabriz. Because frankly I cannot understand how anyone could think that this is beautiful! It looks absolutely awful! They have massacred Tabriz! This is criminal. It's just a big jungle of unattractive buildings that have been erected without no planning and no consideration to harmony and esthetics! It's a disaster.

Shahgoli was so beautiful and serene - I have pictures of what it looked like before they ruined the surroundings. Just erecting modern buildings of all sizes anywhere and everywhere in any fashion and in any direction does not constitute progress nor does it make it beautiful by default. A building is beautiful if it's beautiful, not just by looking "modern", and urban harmony is achieved when harmony and a relative order between the different elements within the urban scenery is achieved. What we see in this picture is total chaos and disorder. A whole bunch of ugly buildings of different heights and shapes erected in a disorderly fashion. It's utter chaos. How incredibly sad, because one could have instead taken advantage of the beauty of Shahgoli and create spectacularly beautiful surroundings that would coexist in harmony. This is what happens when untalented people with bad taste and no education, and whose only interest is to make money rules a country! This urban nightmare is the "paradise" of the haji aghas.

Thumbs up

Hi Gilgamesh

Nice thread on Tabriz. I suggest to review the geographical data with reference to Tabriz entry in Wikipedia. For example Tehran is located at 600 km (and not 800 km) at southeast.
