I dunno, there could be security reasons for it at this point. I'll be more worried if we don't ever hear anything of it again.

According to Radio Sheffield this morning, a coach was heading from Leeds to Birmingham when one of the passengers started claiming to have links with Al Quaeda, so the driver pulled into one of the car parks at Meadowhall and called the police. The police showed up and cordoned off the area but didn't find anything incriminating on the man but they did arrest him anyway (presumably for being a complete and total nutjob).

Thanks wendi,
that reminds me of that stupid british girl who was showing off to security staff at an airport in the US a few years ago and finished up banged up for a while for terrorism.

As for this Asian man on the National Express Coach.
I expect that they will hold him under the prevention of terrorism act and scare the shit out of him for a few weeks, maybe even deport him if he is not a UK national. this kind of action is like a bomb scare, a serious crime.

Did anyone see the news over the weekend of the crane in Manhattan which fell down and crushed some buildings. Several deaths unfortunately.

ive just got back from brum, God it makes me realise how much i love sheffield. it also made me realise how well kept, clean tidy and smart the city is. the centre of brum is so grim, full of really dirty 60s buildings that make the moor look glamorous.... seriously.

i do like birmingham, dont get me wron. but its quite horrible in a lot of places.

Have a lok at this Web site and tell me what you think please ?

Its features all the developments in Belfast, and it has a lot of info on them. Its been put together by G2gap a member on the Belfast section of SSC.

http://www.futurebelfast.com/

Do you think something similar would be good for Sheffield. ?

Looks good! What do you think would be on a Sheffield Page though?
  • St Paul's Place
  • Sevenstone
  • The Moor
  • West Bar
  • Castlegate (VERY future...)
  • now we're struggling...

I like that site Bulldozer. It would certainly be good advertising for us and get all the development info in a single place.

I am happy to help out with web development if everyone wants to put something together.

The council has launched a new website for events in Sheffield. http://www.eventsheffield.co.uk/ Looks great, and for once seems to have broken from the provincial rut that these things often get stuck in.

Also, AndrewC were you on Glossop road near the Hallamshire this morning? Think I might have seen you.

Also, this sounds pretty interesting: http://www.sensoria.org.uk/

It's a new music & film festival. Looks like it's got some good stuff.

I must say, after my little rant the other day, Sheffield seems to be getting quite a few festivals of various types going on.

Art Sheffield was on a much better scale this year I feel (or at least advertised much better), Grin Up North seems to be making something of itself and a load of smaller festivals seem to be coming through (Sensoria, Doc/Fest, Streetlife plus a load more).
