WTF do you mean? I know my English isn't as good as a native speaker, but I can't make anything out of this and the other post you made.

i'm sorry, but this project is a total sham. this building type (skyscraper) just doesn't mesh with gehry's normally respectable design style.

gehry became famous because his unique and sumptuous double-curvature created spaces that are sculptural and transform as the user moves through the space (i.e. guggenheim or disney concert hall). here he has simply applied it to a building with a repeating floor pattern consisting of apartment units with what i'm betting are very mundane interior spaces. he has degraded his own design philospophy into nothing more than a cheap trick applied to the surface of the building.

and if that's not enough, there's really no arguing the horrible, inexcusable flat side of the building that was shamefully modified to fit budget constraints.

this is no more than a 900 ft. monument to gehry's overhyped reputation. nyc would be better without it.

a quote from lebbeus woods:

"The worst thing I can imagine is an urban world of idiosyncratic buildings that jostle each other for attention with no reference to any deeper form of order. The next worst thing I can imagine, though, is a world of dumb boxes embellished by architects determined to disguise their dumbness with all manner of distracting shapes, colors, materials, or tectonic doodads. I say, a box is inherently dumb, so let it be dumb, by which I mean, let it be what it is."

TGSwimFly, don`t you think saying "the box is inherently dumb" is tantamount to saying "efficiency is inherently bad"?

Beekman tower isn't a concerthall nore a museum, it's a skyscraper and a very pretty one if i may say so. The flat side might cut some cost, besides that it also shows some respect to it's environment which isn't a bad thing.

The building doesn΄t look real, but it has an unique shape that might mark the start of the new buildings, a combination of old and new.

I think it's the most beautiful skyscraper that has gone up in the past few years, absolutely gorgeous.

let a box be what it is.......extremely efficient and cost effective, which is really what the point of an office tower is, not to be monuments and art pieces.

yes, and a car should be a can with four wheels and an engine, as long as it brings you from a to b... Stuff get's designed, it makes the world a more interesting place. Move to North Korea if it bothers you
