Very interesting! Thanks for digging that up for us .

I think the flat side incidentally provides some more context by which to appreciate the curvaceous sides-- it creates contrast.

^ That's Gehry's old New York Times Building proposal. He withdrew from the project and Piano got the nod instead. If you look closely, you can see some typeface set into the curtain wall, including the NYT logo near the base.

i know , but i say this, because the city of Ny had always lost lost the opportunity with Gehry not only this opportunity , but also that in nytime competition . why choice a great architect for make a second class building?, in fact this is a pretentious box with a shining sculptural skyn, at least the bay windows....help a little bit....
But one good thing is more i repectfull of the surronding context.
with iac also they use the glass in secon class way if you want to see the first class use by gehry , you must to see the conde nast cafeteria and a new arch gem in Paris :the louis vouitton museum by gehry made in glass:real curved glass panels.....
the problem is always the same:cost costs costs costs

This tower is a shockingly good, oldschool style building. Amazing architecture and what is more - matches very well to the surroundings.

Fantastic building. Helps make the downtown skyline more interesting, the perfect combination of interesting, modern yet able to blend with the surroundings.
