Tru that. I cannot stand that building and I hope to see it torn down or re-clad sometime in the near future

Nice architectural details in closed up but looks bland when viewed afar.

I saw this picture over in the WTC1 thread. Does it look like the construction elevator is finally coming down?

Elevator is indeed coming down.

Here's one from earlier in May:

Cool. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if the construction elevator is completely gone within the next week or two. Who's going to be the first to snap photos from the newly unobstructed angles!?

The time is changed, NYC is changed!
If I don't know that tower, and someone told me it is build in 1980, I would believe it.

I'm not a fan of Woolworth or Singer. American International Building and 40 wall street are two building worth talking about. What can I say I'm a sucker for Art Deco.

Hmm. Other than the Chrysler, I find neo-gothic styles (woolworth) more exciting on old skyscrapers.

What NY needs is more organic or futurist towers like Shanghai Tower or that new tower in London. Although it would be jarring at first and perhaps wouldn't really fit, think of how novel such forms would seem when juxtaposed against all the old beauties and boxy international towers! I think it would open NY to new styles. I'm hoping to see something audacious proposed, as there are too many boxy towers in the pipeline and that is starting to get tiresome. Variety is always good! The form of the 21st century is no longer the boxy 1970's international modernist cube.

FFS NYC developers/architects, get with it! Take the best of these new fangled towers appearing in Aisa and Europe and mold them into a new form, tailor made for NY, that will herald a new dawn for a wonderful skyline!

Aquablue I find myself wanting to ask you to go away. I'm getting the feeling your saying, the shard looks better than this building. Name another skyscraper in the world like The Beekman.
And box tower didn't start in the 70's, it was a 60's movement.
