The blogger confirmed that the 39th and 40th floors are indeed under construction. Looks like this tower is officially in the clear. That's exciting news.

Now that is what I'm talking about. That is true progress. I can't wait to see this building top the Woolworth Building.

Wow, you can start to see the cladding creeping into the skyline. This tower is really going to look amazing from the waterfront.
The tallest building, just behind the Beekman Place is the famous Woolworth Building (okay, you all knew that already) but:

The ornate older building with columned tower is the New York City Municipal Building, built by the famous architectural firm McKim, Mead & White.

The four brown buildings in front (there are actually 8 of them, but you can only see four from this angle) is the Southbridge Towers ... my favorite uncle has an apartment there (his apartment, on the 14th Floor, is closest to the Beekman at 90 Gold Street) ... that is why I always have a place to stay in NYC.

Between two of the Southbridge towers is an off-white building with very thin vertical stripes of windows, this is Pace University ... this is my father's university (he attended the Pace Business College) and I also have a dear lady friend who is a professor there.

I am a New Yorker by birth (and I like the Big Apple very much) but I am a Philadelphian by choice (and I love The City Of Brotherly Love.)

I was thinking, these cladding panels must weigh like at least 3 times heavier than the average glass panels.

Wonderful design, but I don't understand the brick 'pedestal'. I think this building would have been even better without it.

Are they getting the cladding to catch up a bit before they continue upwards?

I think it looks fine. The cladding is still great even though it's flat.

That cladding looks incredible! It gives the building such a great air of quality. I look forward to seeing more of it!
