Should be a tricky cladding for Alain roberts to climb or this will be his last if he does.

The brick part of the building is for an elementary school.

Aha. But well, does this justify that the base doesn't fit the rest of the building in any way?

Maybe it’s because of the area the tower is in, there are many brick buildings around. They wanted this tower to fit in from street level. I don't hate the brick actually, it could be worse. I kind of like it, silver on orange.

It does. The architect most likely wants it to seem that the base and the tower are not related and further it would not surprise me that the school construction authority had some say ont he buildings facade (as most schools in this city are built with brick facades).

Welcome to NYC style of construction of today's date. School was part of negotiation between the developer and local community board which squeezed the developer into providing 15% of building for affordable living, building a free parking lot for nearby Pace university, and also making another school for the neighborhood in the base of the building itself. do it or loose the contract - that is the blackmail that developers are dealing everyday in this city.

Honestly - it is not entirely bad, but the process itself and sheer demands are becoming a major nuisance in any future development.

Yes indeed it is not a bad speed - especially now with all this crisis around since the more speed we ask the more money we should pay.
